Guys, did some looking into stuff and the zv4 radio issue was not caused by twrp. Zv5 clean flashed perfectly and i even flashed the radio zip and everything worked. So please stop using cwm and lets figure out whats wrong with zv4 and fix it.

I repeat, use twrp or philz from now on for everything, this and zv5. There will be less issues.

Boy, you really hate CWM don't you? :p I guess you have reason to since I just realized that you made the TWRP recovery (also, the apparent flaws in CWM). Anyway, thought you'd like to know, I removed zv4 from the rooting guide so I just goes straight to zv5, which let me replace CWM with TWRP. :) I prefer it myself as well, TBH.

I don't hate cwm, but twrp is just so much more functional on any device. Things like usb mass storage and adb working the right way make it a lot more appealing to me. Also the fact that cm has come out publicly and abandoned it makes me not want to touch it with a ten foot pole. Its not even that I made it, its just that things are easier to support when I have the source code that built the recovery and can really dig into where the issue is. I can't tell you how many nights I sat there banging my head against the desk trying to figure out what was wrong with twrp, just to find out it wasn't even twrp that was the problem.

Nice call on going to zv5 in the rooting guide, I wholeheartedly agree with that decision. Zv4 would need to be fixed now that we know it was the problem, and its not worth throwing the time into it now that kwknott came out with a zv5 that flashes things correctly.

Also, i really dont want to leave androidforums. I got tired of xda and the lack of support for legacy devices, so thats why I came here in the first place. I could have petitioned the mods at xda to get an LG Volt section with the recoveries and rom I put out, but I chose to stick here after a great experience in the Zte Awe forums.

Just guys, please give me some rope. I may sound like an idiot sometimes and may be a little more brash than i should be, but I have been through so many different scenarios building cm11 and the recoveries that I can confidently say I know most times what I am talking about. Its ok for you guys to challenge me, just please do it in a constructive way. There will be things that you know and I dont, and things that I know that you dont, and Im willing to share with all of you as long as you are willing to share with me in a constructive manner.

I dont make money off this, dont want to as a matter of fact. Its a hobby that will hopefully help me in the professional job search in a year or so. I do this for me, and its a side effect that you guys get to benefit too. We are all in this together. Please realize that this isnt my job, Im 27 with a family and a home to worry about, I go to school full time and work the weekends, so if im slow to update, thats why. Also there are a few things stumping me at the moment, like how we had 4g about 8 releases ago and not now.

I like you guys, and Its not a big deal to me if you dont have a high opinion of me. I was told from a young age to stick to my convictions, and fight like hell to make things right when I know I can. If i rub you the wrong way, sorry. But you cant argue that I can either get things done myself or help others do it, so I will respect you if you respect me.

Stepping down from my soapbox now. Back to being a dev thread.

I just wanted to chime in with this real quick: When running our stock ROM we have battery saver and also within Cyanogenmod we have ways to save battery including adjusting our CPU somewhat at the cost of performance. I was looking through play store for a way to replicate battery saving like stock and I found this new app by Qualcomm that learns how we use our battery and helps us save in a way different than the other battery saver apps (which don't really work in my opinion) and is aimed at our snapdragon processors specifically. I have only used this app for a day or so but the battery difference is like night and day with cyanogenmod which has drained my battery really quick in the past! I went to sleep last night with 56% with wifi and sync on and I woke up and I had used 1%!! I use my phone heavily daily and the battery has been improved there too. It take 2-4 days for the app too learn your habits and then it keeps itself calibrated and stays charged longer. I just thought this might make a good companion app along with greenify to those testing and deving this ROM, cheers:) ps I am including my benchmark for AFTER I installed the battery saver app. Highest I've seen yet!!

For those on Boost Mobile this does work.. (having flashed CM11 many are stuck w/ Virgin Mobile as the carrier label)

LTE shows that its on but no calls can be made, had to switch to 3G for calls but the battery saving doing so is not a problem. i flashed this fix on both a fresh CM install then v5 radio immediately right after and CM running for a few days on the v4 radio.. both times worked like a charm...

so i say it wouldn't hurt to try it out for yourself

I can confirm this works too!! I've been using 4g LTE with the zv5 radio since last night on my Boost Volt :) My mms sends pictures and texts perfectly now! Thanks a million for posting the fix @baconsauce

*edit: my GPS is working now too @whoshotjr2006

Just to make sure I understand...

1) Are you using TWRP?
2) You flashed this ROM (CM11)
3) Then you flashed the Z5 radio (Z4 was working fine too)
4) And now everything is working OK (Calls, LTE, etc.)

Thanks!

To answer your question.
1.yes
2.yes
3.yes
4.yes

side note, it will take 5 mins or so for lte to "wake up" and start working, make sure it is enabled in your notifications quick settings menu. =)

That's awesome! I think I may make this my daily driver now! I really hope though that NFC and the light ring gets fixed next. Oh and the Bluetooth, I use it a lot with a Bluetooth speaker.

I've been working on the data issue, and now with a few added libs I can get ehrpd internet running on cm11 which is the precursor to lte. I think my test has lte working but where I live now just happens to be the tiny portion of town that doesn't have 4g. I'll upload a test soon if anyone wants to be a guinea pig for me and see if it works, so I can integrate it into the build process.

I tried adding those zips into the build process and wasn't having the same luck you guys are, but when I flashed them they worked. Dunno whats going on there.

I probably should have tested it to make sure it was LTE.
Why not unpack the zips and just integrate the files into the ROM?

That's what I did, didn't work when I built the contents of the zips in. I pulled all sorts of files from lib and etc last night from stock ROM and when I added them to the cm11 zip and flashed I got ehrpd, so gonna go that way for now.

I reinstalled this rom wit the apn fix zip and zv5 radio and i had lte initially, data, mms calls(in and out) worked, i turned on wifi and turned off and now all i get is 3g but everythang still works jus fine, idk if its jus a glitch or what but i thought id jus point that out, but other than that nonimportant issue i havent had any other issues wit this rom, great work!!
