Root [One Click][Updated]LG Spectrum All in One Pkg for Root, CWM Touch Recovery, and Unroot

For me, I've been craving for android since before android existed. I started out with a few LG flip phones and eventually the LG Env. It was well above its time, but you still couldn't customize it the way I really wanted to. Then the Droid 1 hit the shelves and I was hooked. I modded that thing backwards and forwards, but never really got into coding or building from source.

Then I upgraded to the Spectrum. It's a great phone, but had no support at launch and the marketing of it sucked. I waiting around for devs to show up and when none did, I decided to start digging and learning about the insides of android. It definitely helped that I had a small backround in linux. We got root thanks to Dan R and then devs came on board. PlayfulGod, Death2All, TDM, and many more that came and went. I tried to pick up tips and tricks from each of them and have gotten better at my craft.

Now I'm trying to work on the OUYA. It's slow going, just like the Spectrum was and dev support is very limited due to how easy it is to brick the thing. I still tinker with the Spectrum, but with it being my daily driver, it's hard to tinker too much. I'm looking forward to the Moto X Dev Edition as my next phone and then hopefully I can start full work on the Spectrum again. My kernel never did take off as I just didn't have the time to flash back and forth. Maybe that will change this fall.

Good Morning! Thank you for answering, I am always interested in what motivates people. Do you understand just how generous and unselfish you and those like you are to put up with the NOOB questions and anxiety we experience in these forums?

I haven't spoken with ONE person here that seemed to be selfish or impatient with our members. Do you know how unusual that is? It is amazing to me, and it gives me hope for our future that there are SOME people out there that believe in helping just for the sake of helping, expecting little in return.

ALSO, I thought I would mention that after all the weeks of reading posts/threads, and asking many questions, I rooted my phone this morning. It was so cool when I downloaded a root checker from the market, and it asked for superuser access! YES.

Now I am going to get TiB, and read some more here to discover what apps I can delete/freeze. I know there is a post here somewhere with a list of apps that are safe to remove.

It is just a baby step, but a step forward nevertheless. I am going slowly, taking my time to enjoy the experience, instead of crashing and burning like some of our fellow members have done from time to time. Ultimately, I wish to install a custom ROM, and really be able to enjoy my phone. (Owe it all to you guys). Thank you all so much!! You'll be hearing from me.

I only hope that over time I become experienced/knowledgeable, and will be able to take someone else by the hand and walk them successfully through THEIR android experience.

Well said and I ditto whole heartedly! My favorite root apps are adaway (suppress advertising) and faster GPS (set country and region) for lighting fast fixes.

So I've tried to do it a number of times with many reboots and using different cables. The phone restarts, and I think the root works, but it won't load the recoveries.

I get messages like:
"link failed No such file or directory"
"remount failed: Operation not permitted"
And a bunch of other failure messages

Then it reboots again and says "All Finished"

Can anyone suggest how to complete the recovery install the long way.. like without a "one click" solution?

Is this no longer a working link? I recovered a bricked Spectrum and am at stock, unroofed. I followed the post to here and the link says "no files found". I would love to root this phone and get CWM on it for at least Xposed Modules to work for me.
Thank you.
You will need pwnage tool by death2all
There should be a working link in this forum somewhere or on Google. If not, let me know and I will see if I still have it. Also, if you do root there is a specific CWM you will need if planning to use any kitkat ROMs. It is 6.0.4.5 assert fixed that TDM posted In here somewhere as well. Let me know how your search goes.

i'm completely in over my head trying to do this but i'm in a terrible need to upgrade my OS on my phone and the only way to do it is by rooting it. from everything i read, this seems to be the best option for me. i half understand it though. but with the step by step instructions, i'm hoping i don't screw up my phone too badly.

the warning scares me the most. especially since i don't understand what it is talking about. so most likely i might be a candidate making the mistake. :). what does it mean, in plain english, when it says " Warning ...The button combination will result in a bootloop." ? what are the things i should not click on lol. it would be nice if there was a layman instruction for this stuff.

please help. thank you
