new york, ny
received the new droid turbo today and so far i like it. seems to be a nice upgrade from the droid maxx.

i had a few questions that i hope you can help me with.

1. what is the "command center"? do i need it or can i disable it.

2. when texting on this phone whenever i create a new text, it shows "people you recently contacted" i don't want to see this and the droid maxx did not have that either. how can i disable it so it does not appear? this really bothers me so hopefully there is a solution to remove it.

3. the camera is 21 megapixels. can you select how many megapixels you want it to be? i would prefer to take pics in 10-14 megapixels if possible.

4. in the droid maxx you had a "contacts" widget in which i was able to add my name / number / email address. this phone does not have that anymore as the "contacts" widget is removed for this new model. is there a place i can add my personal information?

thanks everyone for their assistance.

i did not realize "backup assistance" is not used anymore for the contacts but the "cloud" seems to work fine.

Welcome to the family! Other users will probably chime in, but here are my thoughts.

1. I think you can disable the Command Center without any ill effects. I like this widget because I don't need separate widgets for the clock/alarm, battery, and weather.

2. I don't see the "people you recently contacted" in the stock messaging/texting app. Are you using that one or the Verizon Messaging app?

3. The stock camera app doesn't have a lot of options. I see that you can select the resolution of Widescreen (16:9) at 15.5MP or Standard (4:3) at 21MP.

4. I don't know about the contacts widget, but the contacts app is now called "People." I was able to add my personal information to "ME" which is listed first in the "all contacts" part of the People app. To put some info (name and alternate contact info, for example) on the lock screen, go to Settings -> Security & Screen Lock -> Owner info.

I think that there are numerous alternative apps/widgets in the Play Store for all of these issues. Perhaps other folks can recommend some of their favorite alternatives. Good luck!

thanks for the reply back.

regarding the texting, i was using VZW message + by accident and then just went back to the standard green icon messaging.

I put contacts that I use frequently on my homepage (or one of my pages).

I am currently using the command center, but I often remove it and I'll add a different widget (weather/clock/combo)

I was using hangouts, but I've started using Message+ and enjoying all the features. And doogald is correct, if you have a Google account your info and contacts will be generated automatically.
