and SPRINT'S HTC M8 goes LOLLIPOP!

Try dialing ###72786# upper right, Menu, reset, confirm if necessary and WAIT while it does its thing. Don't panic, it needs a little time to reprovision the settings.

Then settings, update, and update PRL and Profile, in that order.
I would do this, but now the phone keeps rebooting constantly. What the heck is going on?

Hold volume UP and power to force a power reset.

Doesn't affect apps or data.
Okay. I did this and then the phone rebooted. Once the phone came back to "home screen" and started loading my apps and such, the screen froze and then went black and reset again after about 30-45 seconds in (Like what it has been doing). I don't know what is going on, but it just started tonight. I got the update on Wednesday.

Also, I cannot get dialer trick to work either. After typing the code in, it disappears and I go to the menu (top right) and there is no reset option.

Then the only suggestion I can make is to power down (use volume up if necessary) and then power on holding volume down - navigate the menus for the factory data reset.

Well.. I hit the wrong button and my M8 went about doing its thing and updated to Lollipop! I am happy to report that "so far" not problems evident; everything "seems" to be working OK. (Including the Dot Case functionality.)

Question: Since full functionality seems to be OK immediately after update completed, is it reasonable to conclude that I should not encounter problems down the road secondary to the update? [My wife's M8 has much less 'stuff' on it than mine, but probably will wait a day or two before accepting the update.]

Well, I hope so, but it's still the same as predicting the rain in my experience, you just never know - I stress that going without a backup is like doing that circus thing without a net.

Glad it's going easy for you. :)

I had an issue with network connections yesterday. I couldn't connect to anything except 1x. No 3g, eHRPD, LTE, etc. So, I did the old ##72786# and a reset to get it back. Worked great.!

Also, my battery life has been less than stellar after the update. It's not that bad, but it is worse than before. So, at the earliest convenience I'm going to factory reset to see if it rectifies the situation.

I do not like the implementation of the pull down/quick settings. I have to do an extra swipe to get rid of the pull down screen now? Why?

If you are bored with the HTC messaging app. Try an app called Textra. Simple, beautiful, and runs fast. HTC could learn from Textra.

I use blinkfeed a lot. Instead of tapping to bring the feed back to the top of the screen you have to hit the home button. Okay, thats not bad at all.

After a factory reset, I find that my battery life is back to good. I just went about 30 hours off the charger with light-moderate use and got down to 17%. I definitely recommend a factory reset after upgrade.

Then, I went and got a new charger that supports Quick Charge 2.0. Just got it today, and it seems to be awesome! But that's a subject for another thread. :D

Since update to 5.0.1, "id.itsonservice" has appeared as a major percentage of battery use. (GSam Battery Monitor). What is "id.itsonservice" and why is it consuming soooo much juice?

Without knowing what a major percentage is or how quickly your battery is draining, I'm not sure this is helpful. However, I had an issue with itsonservice on the last KitKat update draining my battery significantly. A factory reset did the trick there.

With that said, I do see that process near the top of my list (3rd) in GSam Battery Monitor now taking about 6.8% of the 80% used by apps (~27% was used by the kernel). Itsonservice is reporting about 4 minutes and 35 seconds of CPU usage. I'm only averaging about 1.5 - 2.5% battery usage per hour, though.
