Root battery hammered over night :-\

hi guys.

last night i left my phone off charge as it still had about 60% left and when i got up in am, it was down to 17%!! wtf!? :-\

checking in gsam it only shows the Android os and kernel using power at top of list :-\

I'm guessing it is a rogue app, but odd that it doesn't show up

That, or the "Kernel Wakelocks" and "Partial Wakelocks" portions of GSAM's AppSucker feature. Either should be able to provide some insight into what keeps your phone up at night.

Have you tried Wakelock Detector? I like it better.

I do too, but I mentioned GSAM since dan55 said he already had that installed. He doesn't necessarily need to install another app if he's already got one with wakelock reporting capability.

Yes he does. Everyone rooted needs both.

Whoops, don't mind me. I was thinking of the wakelock displays in Better Battery Stats, which is comparable to WLD. Just a matter of preference, really.

GSAMs wakelock display is next to useless.

Running arhd (5.0.1) here and like it. No xposed but can live without that anyway. Yeah still find firmware flash a bit worrying, but not difficult to do. I've had more issues with my N7 than my phone!

How's ARHD on 5.0? Stayed off 5.0 since xposed wasn't ready but it's in alpha stages currently so may consider going for it.

Plus may need to anyway, current kernel puts my phone into that much of a deep sleep it won't wake up for my alarm clock

Nope, none at all but seems to be hardcoded in ARHD - at least I couldn't get Elemental X app or Trickster Mod to turn it off, so switched to SD for now.

Might give it a week or two for them to iron out xposed and make the jump.

Apparently 5.0 allows for manual cameras so I may even end up giving AOSP a try. Decisions hmm.

Hmm, what does the manual camera use mean in practice? Does it mean non-Sense camera apps can make better use of the hardware?

That's what I gather. I have used a non sense camera that allowed all the manual functions but was buggy as hell. But I gather with googles new api it'll allow apps to fully use the hardware , well I hope anyway. When I went AOSP on my S3 I could never get a working HDR ever again amd with only 4mp to play with I didn't really wanna lose any ability in my camera.
