Edit:
I called up Boost Mobile and they couldn't help much. They said I was already set up for reqular VM.

You have to have the app to get notifications. You'll still get messages, but no notifications.

I wonder why that is. It didn't work that way before with my other Androids. My old LG Motion on ICS was simple like that. I can't stand having excess redundant apps running. Anything else I can do?

Edit:
I think I'm on to something from what I've been researching. Will follow up as soon as I find a fix!

Are these supposed to have busybox? I just ran a script that required busybox and it said it was missing parts. I reinstalled and it was fine, but thought I should say something if it's supposed to be installed already.

Hey all, I'm pretty new to the volt and I have a few questions. When I first got it I updated to the newest update asap. Now I have noticed a few differences between that ZV5 and this one. For instance it stays saying lg and hasn't switched to Boost Mobile in the carrier portions. But more importantly I haven't gotten the updated mobile data menu. I have no way to turn on hotspot. If anyone could help me with either I have an eternal thank you!

Not sure what you mean by mobile data menu. LG as carrier is normal for these ROMs. You can get an app to do hotspot, but unless you use something like Wi-Fi Tether Router, it's not free. This phone never had Wi-Fi hotspot, just Bluetooth and USB tethering.

I can promise you when I would go settings/more/mobile networks there was a different menu and it had a toggle for the hotspot, and it worked. The entire menu for that was different, I have the one I noticed from ZV3 ever since I flashed this is never came back.

I have two volts that are now alive and working with the ZV5 process.(Thank you) One has a toggles for Hotspot and Bluetooth tethtering in the "settings/more/wireless & networks" and the other one does not. VM is now charging a non renewable $10 for 30 days of 2 gb of hotspot and the one volt has no way to turn it on.
Is there something that can be done to make the tethering menu appear?

There is a difference in the setting menus on some of these.

Mine has the option for the tethering, my wife's does not. Also mine actually configured for boost mobile, where as her's just stayed with the LG branding and didn't configure for boost mobile.

It's not the rom that causes this but it's something to do with the process of flashing back to zv3 to do root. Sometimes the phone will brand back to the carrier, other times a just stays with the lg branding. This is my second volt and the first 1 when I flashed back zv3, it lost the boost mobile branding. My new one rebranded to Boost Mobile. I'm not really sure what causes some to lose branding and not others.

Ok, well, mine never had the hotspot toggle, and my point that it's not free still stands. There are plenty of apps to add a hotspot toggle, but if you want it for free, you'll need to get WiFi Tether router.

The last time I used wifi tether boost mobile throttled me with a quickness lol, haven't tried since. When they say unlimited they mean unlimited unless you want hotspot

Haven't had an issue with that. Sure you didn't just run over your limit?
It's not true unlimited data. You get throttled once you use X amount of data. Unlimited just means they don't completely cut you off.

Yeah I found that out the hard way on day 3 of my paid month, some kid next door latched onto the hotspot and downloaded as many COD maps as he could and torched my data. I didn't think to password protect it at the time but I learned a very valuable lesson. facebook wouldn't even load pictures after they throttled me lol

Hey guys! I have a question I am running the zv5 stick rooted deodexed ROM and I was wanting to know if any of you are experiencing any low music volumes when you turn it up all the way? I mean on this ROM when I trim it up all the way its loud but its not as loud as it was on true stick before I rooted. Is that a ROM thing or what?

Never noticed any issues with volume. Is it a certain app you're having an issue with, certain type of media, or is it just about everything?

The volume for media for stock seems a bit lower. Its just with the music volume everything work flawlessly.

To clarify when I am on stock zv3 the music volume for the stock player seems much louder compared to the zv5 stock rooted deodexed rom.

Never noticed any difference but I really don't listen to a lot of music other than Pandora which sounds fine. Maybe try another player and see if it helps.

So its not an issue with the stock rooted zv5 ROM? Also have you released an updated version of the stock rooted zv5 deodexed ROM like fixing any bugs or is the version you posted initially the most up to date version?

I haven't released anything new. It's 100% stock so there's really nothing to fix. About the only thing I could add would be to integrate new app updates. I'm pretty much leaving them as is so a 100% complete stock zv5 rom is available

The only problem I have noticed is that WIFI randomly turns itself on at times. Might want to look into that

It's not random. That's the work of Connections Optimizer due to having detected an open network and assuming that you would want to be on WiFi. Turn off Connections Optimizer.

Like he said, this is the stock software. He didn't create any of it and has no control over it. This is exactly what is installed on your phone with the zv5 update. All he did was add root and busybox and deodex the ROM. Any operational complaints should be directed to LG.
