Help Trouble with auto rotation

Hello. I just recently rooted my device and with lollipop I'm having auto rotation issues. It locks after a while of use even with things that are android, built in to Android, like videos and such. I have very few things installed and haven't really downloaded or used any of the root capable apps. It's stock, does not have a rom or anything. I'm on lollipop 5.0.1. I am aware of some apps not being updated to work with lollipop yet but my rotation locks either in landscape or portrait mode even when I'm not using those apps, don't have them running, and don't have notifications checked. I'm starting to really hate powering off my nexus 7 just to fix it. I downloaded a force screen rotation app but even that is getting frustrating to have to manually rotate the screen. I had this problem with 4.4.4 which is really starting to get old. I have no idea what is causing it and I really don't want to factory reset my device every time it locks in portrait of landscape. Thank you.

I used wugs, buy a friend rooted my device remotely. I don't really know how to update to 5.0.2. I was also told that 5.0.2 broke more than it fixed and was horrible and I should wait until the next update. I'm really losing faith in Google and Android.

Well 5.0.2 didn't break anything new. And this happens in every update. It happened in kitkat too. Problems after updates. It happens in iOS and Windows too. I'm on 5.0.2 with no problems whatsoever. And wugs has changed its root method since you rooted. Wugs will update you as well.

Well I'm rooted and regretting it. I tried sideloading the newest update so I might try to fix the issue but it gave me "No Command" underneath the Android on his back screen. I even pressed power and volume up like the video tutorial said but all it did was restart the device and go back to the Android on his back screen with No Command again. I unplugged and am now planning on going back to headache free normal mode where all I have to do is click Update and voila! I can update simply without these extra hoops. Sorry for the frustration, I'm just finding root not beneficial anymore.

I am using wugs. That's what I have been using. I followed the video to a tee not skipping a thing and still it won't update. Gives me that error I told you about above. It's in recovery loop or something like that. I googled it and found people are having the same issue. One guy fixed by sticking a needle in his volume rocker. No thanks. I will just stick with 5.0.1 or revert back to normal without being rooted. I know people say being rooted is not for everyone. Well, if not being rooted saves you the headaches and the huge workaround just to update your device, then I am all for the easy, normal route. Rooting has been nothing but a headache for me. From apps not working to not being able to do a simple update. Just not for me.

Just select build as 5.0.2 and select "flash stock and unroot". Done. If you don't know how to use adb and fastboot without a toolkit then yeah rooting might not be for you. No biggie, it's not for everyone. My wife would kill me if I rooted her tab, lol. But do like I said and you will be updated and unrooted.
Make sure you have all drivers installed right. Update the toolkit too.

So when I open wugs, what do I do next? When my friend rooted my phone remotely I was paying attention but he was jumping around and moving too quickly for me to keep up. Usually I get technology quicker than some people as it's my forté but I have to admit, rooting and everything to do with it seems to be eluding me at the moment.

I think its up in the right corner where you select your device and build. Select nexus 7 (2013) WiFi only, and select 5.0.2 as your build. Then select "flash stock and unroot". Its one button.
Have you installed the drivers on your computer? Was it your computer that your friend used with wugs? If not click the setup and install drivers option. Just follow the steps it gives. It will guide you through installing drivers.
Make sure your tablet is on, plugged in to computer and in developer options, USB debugging is on.

Madbat, I successfully updated to 5.0.2 and removed root. However, when I restart my device it's still showing the lock unlocked at the bottom of the screen. I checked to see if I was still rooted by downloading an app and it said having problem detecting a successful root or something. I don't know if it completely removed root or not. Superuser is gone and busybox no longer worked. Also adaway said it only works on root. Yet I still have that unlocked lock when I reboot. Have no idea what went wrong.

Nothing went wrong. Your bootloader is still unlocked. Which is fine. You can relock it in wugs if you want. But then if you want to root again you will have to unlock it, which does a factory reset and wipes all of your data. So if you plan to flash anything with wugs, fastboot, or root again in the future, you should leave it unlocked. But that's up to you. That little lock image has nothing to do with root, its the state of your bootloader.
