Does anybody know what this site is for?

Looks like a site for developers.

apparently it gathers information on a device and shows it. I just looked up my own device and it gave me info like what OS I'm using, whether or not it's a touchscreen, etc. I'm very surprised it was able to detect all that from a browser. kinda creepy o_O

Websites often have to determine what the browser and device are capable of, so they can correctly deliver the appropriate content. For example determining touch-screen rather than mouse, might be to make the navigation buttons large and finger friendly, or not to send Flash content if the browser doesn't have Flash, desktop or mobile browser, screen-size, etc.

I tried it with a Mac just now...

mobile_browser Firefox Desktop
device_os Desktop
has_qwerty_keyboard true
pointing_method mouse
is_google_glass false
mobile_browser_version 36.0
is_tablet false
