(Oops -- the title is supposed to say "didn't find symbols") Help! I have NO experience with this stuff. I tried to root my phone using the method found here: http://androidforums.com/ascend-2-all-things-root/641614-finally-rooted-m865c-straight-talk.html.
But after I pressed "Press here to poot" I got the messages "[-] didn't find symbols" and "A demon materialzed while pooting. Error code: 20 su binary was not written." Huh? I tried rebooting and then pressing "Build-in rootcheck," but the message I got back was:
Path is:
"/sbin:/vendor/bin:/system/sbin:/system/bin:/system/xbin"
no su was found in $PATH
Any idea what this means? I'm so clueless.

Have you tried performing a factory reset (turn phone off, hold Vol Down + Home then press and hold Power button until you see Tracfone logo then release power button while still holding the other buttons until you see the recovery process start - I do not recommend using the factory reset app before or after rooting this phone) before trying to root? Sometimes that can help. Also, make sure you have BOTH poot.apk and ministro-ii.apk installed and make sure you have an active internet connection upon starting the process, as it needs to download those symbols through ministro in order for the root process to work.

My download for ministroll s unsuccessful I've ben at this for days.....HELP

My suggestion would be that if you are trying to download ministro using your phone, connect the phone to wifi, as Tracfone (as well as ST, Net10) have gotten into the habit of blocking downloads from certain Android related forums and that could be the problem you're experiencing.

I just rooted a ZIP tonight. Used Poot in the link. Ministro and Superuser (3.1.3 the one with the eye patch) I downloaded from Play. The first Superuser app that I used and the link for Ministro didn't work for me. It may it may have been that I just downloaded the wrong version of superuser the first time. Rooted and everything works !
