When I first bought my L9, it was advertised with Corning Gorilla Glass -- something I knew nothing about. I watched a couple YouTube videos and it seemed pretty nifty, although I tend to not drop my phone like other L9 owners.
I've had the phone since Day 1 and I've been hanging onto every post here and other forums on unlocking the bootloader for all MetroPCS L9's.
I unexpectedly gave my Gorilla a real world test when in a fit of rage, I threw the phone as hard as I could into the wall of my condo. It left a 3 inch dent in my drywall and fell to the hardwood floor below (I was on the 2nd floor throwing it into my stairwell). After realizing it still worked great with only a scuff on one corner, I threw it again into the hardwood with as much force as I could muster. It chipped a little on the other corner (both top corners of the phone are scuffed). I collected my memory card, battery, and cover from various parts of my living room where I smashed it and put it back together. It started right up! There's a small curve in the top of the device where the battery cover has a slightly dented fit, but everything else works great, screen is flawless, camera unharmed, etc.
I originally bought the phone mistaking posts of the T-Mobile version for this -- with unlocked bootloader success in various forums online. I brought the phone home after owning it for an hour, and was saddened to reveal my mistake and the zillion of other L9 variants. I've been unable to do much of anything on this phone, and without a fully unlocked bootloader, it's getting sluggish. I typically change phones every 6-8 months. Previously, I rode out the LG Esteem in hopes of unlocking/upgrading/whatever, and this is my 2nd LG, my 2nd Metro phone, and my 2nd locked bootloader.
How has your L9 held up?
