Root Unbrick/Unroot LG Optimus F7 (Boost Mobile)

It disconnects/reconnects after about 30 seconds in download mode. Also I cant see me phone in device manager.

OK that's good, that's suppose to happen. Did you ever configure your ports yet?

Hello,

This is where I am at. I can see the phone (usb composit device) in device manager, it fails to start (code 10) about every 30 seconds. which I understand to be normal.

But here is where I am stuck

"ports" is not in the device manager. so i can not find anywhere to configure them. So at this point. I am stuck.

Help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: got my server out and got it working on there. didnt go exactly as planned, ports didnt change on their own, but i was able to set the right one manually and after one failure, it flashed and im up and running.

now trying to figure out about the new version of software released by lg. v5

You don't have to pay us for help.. This phone doesn't use Odin nor .tar files, only the LG Flash Tool, .dll & .tot files. What step are you stuck at? Screenshots to show us??

I bricked my F7 using the hidden menu this morning, like an idiot. I hit one of the test features apparently, and it rebooted into recovery, won't boot to the OS now. Tried to unbrick/unroot, no luck. Says in recovery "error mounting /data!"

Did i screw it up for good? I have never needed help rooting or unrooting before, and all this stemmed from my trying to carrier unlock this thing after they finally gave me the MSL number. Can anyone help or am I doomed?

Addendum:
Although recovery still works, this is the error I get when trying to flash the simplicity zip file:

file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/build.prop": No such file or directory

I feel sick.

That's because the rom dev has the installer check the build.prop to make sure your flashing the rom on the correct device. If you're bricked or wiped pryor to flashing then your build.prop is likely missing, hence the rom not installing and giving that error.

So does that mean I am S.O.L.? or is there a way to undo this damage? I have Philz recovery working...

1. you can unzip the rom and make the adjustment to the updater script
2. or ask the developer if he can help
3. or ask someone to post a backup that you can restore in recovery

I'm sure there's more options I'm not thinking of right now. Point is your phone is recoverable. Unbricking with the kdz has never failed me.

something has happened where its not mounting the /data , and if there is a solution I am down to try anything before I throw this thing in the trash.

If its as simple as adjusting the script how and what do I do?
Sorry, I am currently overseas, and this has seriously snafu'd my situation. I am frustrated...

I DID try flashing the Unroot/Unbrick files back in, but it won't take, prob because of that /data issue...btw Nothing is working except recovery.

Sorry for the noob questions here, I am still struggling with this F7 that won't boot, stuck in a recovery bootloop.
Who (or where should I post) to ask for a backup to restore in recovery? I need some way to get recovery to recognize the /data so I can try to unbrick this thing... or other solutions. I can't believe I did this.
TIA

Yes I can get into download mode, have tried this 15 or 20 times. Started another thread on the main page, but so far I can't find a solution. Game Theory developer said the build.prop is missing, that I need to change the script, but I don't know what to change. Can anyone help? Seems like this shouldn't be that hard to fix...

Just got the OTA. Installation in progress :) This is actually quite surprising. I last updated this phone over a year ago. I use to flash to stock just see if there were any updates. There were never any. I thought they weren't gonna update this phone any longer. I don't expect much of a change of course but, it'll be nice to at least have some kind of update..

How long does it to take after you hit the arrow? Mine says ready but nothing ever starts? It just says ready and thats it. I just got this phone and cannot afford another right now. Help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't take long at all. We could do a full step by step troubleshooting walkthrough as I'm guessing there may be a driver or USB cable issue.
