Help Repair Options? - Black S4 Screen, Display out, No cracked screen, Touch screen still functions..

Hello!

My S4 took a nasty fall about a week and a half ago. Since then, the display has been out. I'm wondering what it would take to fix it. The screen is not cracked and it still recognizes touch (I was able to successfully unlock it and access my files by swiping my pattern on the black screen). The phone powers on, beeps with facebook updates, vibrates when I pick it up..

Do I have to replace the screen/LCD/digitizer? What part specifically relates to the black display? I hate having to replace everything, but I don't know if that's the only way or not.

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like either the display itself was chipped, or the part that connects it to the logic board was knocked loose. If it's the latter, you can open the phone up and reattach it. If the display is broken, then you're better off getting a new phone. Replacing the display on a Samsung phone is incredibly difficult (and expensive). You would have to replace the entire front assembly of the phone.

Actually, its not that expensive to repair if you do it yourself. As a matter of fact, its cheaper then buying a new phone unlocked or on contract. I just did a screen and digitizer OEM replacement complete assembly, that only cost $125. Watch some YouTube videos first, to see if your comfortable doing it. If you do attempt this, test the new display out first, before you transfer everything over to the new display housing. Also, on mine, I had to attach the mother board to the screen flex cable first, then attach the mother board back onto the display housing. (For some reason, the display flex cable is off alignment some and therefore wouldn't connect right. This caused the screen to not work. (Took me a few days to figure this out.)
