Phandroid review - sounds awesome!

Well I can see this having far more use than gaming. Heck, I kinda, at first, see it for everything BUT games..

I can see it having a lot of uses for training in a number of fields, for example.

Which would be professional and vertical usage, things like military, government, corporate, etc. But for domestic home usage, I do think it will be mostly gaming and likely virtual worlds stuff as well, things like Second Life*. Thing with the Vive, as well as things like the Oculus, the required setup needed sounds quite elaborate, a high-powered gaming class PC, cameras setup at 3-4 metres distance, as well as enough clear space to safely do your VR activities in, assuming you're not sitting down. Thinking of the Holodecks in Star Trek: Next Generation, a dedicated large room, but was mostly used for entertainment and often playing games.

Google Cardboard just needs a suitable smart-phone....that's it. LOL

*BTW I did consider and experiment with Second Life as a way of teaching, but very few students had the high-powered PCs and laptops that it requires to run properly.

I just saw the review video on Youtube and was led here. It sounds amazing. Rob certainly came across as impressed.

I can't wait to see if Valve bring out Half Life 3 for it. It would be the creepiest tense experience ever. Imagine being chased by Sand Lions towering over you. Or cowering out of sight from Striders or dodging Head Crabs. I would be screaming.

Valve and HTC... awesome.
