Received the icon about 6 hours ago. Guess I am going to be the first guinea pig on here. 220.7MB update

Got the 5.1 OTA this morning for my Nexus 5. I've only used it a little but so far all is good.

Update Successful! :specsdroid:

I have Sprint Nexus 6 (locked and unrooted) and used the OTA file downloaded here from the link below. I tried using a toolkit, but it kept hanging up on the locked bootloader and wouldn't recognized the phone in recovery. The Mini-sdk however did allow me to sideload the update. To make it easier, rename the file to update.zip, and put everything in the same directory. The fast and pray and if necessary use incense or burnt offerings especially on Win8.1.

I'm pretty sure there is a bit set somewhere in my N5 that ensures I am the last N5 on the planet that receives OTA updates.

If history repeats itself, I'll be lucky to have it within the next two weeks.

Peculiarly, the first thing to get it here was a Nexus 7 2012.

That leaves a Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013 still waiting.

Flashed it during the week, no idea why the Nexus 9 is lagging behind though. Would have thought it would have been one of the first devices to get 5.1.

The LED light fix has pleased me immensely

I know how you feel. I gave up and flashed 5.0 and 5.0.1 but I'm hoping I actually get this one as a OTA

Been using mine over the weekend and the battery life is pretty grim, it wasn't prior to 5.1. Typical!

What network are you on and what messaging app are you using? Does it take a long time to send or not send at all? Can you recieve?

I noticed Google Services has been very active on my battery consumption chart since going to 5.1. I also noticed that the Sound Search for Google Play had trouble syncing. I switched that "off" in the sync menu and it seems to have helped.

Google services has been high/top in my battery stats for some time.

Sound search sync has been reported to Google before and was meant to be addressed in 5.0.1. But it wasn't.

I got the update on my Nexus 5 on Monday night, and it took forever to actually download and install (it was "waiting", then "download failed" so I tried again), but I am pleased with the update itself. Since the update I have been getting much better battery life and much better LTE signals in the same places - even getting LTE in a few places I wasn't getting signals at all. I'm sure the better signal hold has something to do with the improved battery life.

Same here. Just happy that my signal is not jumping. It took forever to switch to LTE since lollipop update. Hope they figured out WiFi-mobile data switch.

My Nexus 5 phone just got Android 5.1 OTA last week. A few days ago, it started becoming unresponsive between 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the evening and then recovering around midnight. When I say unresponsive, I mean that the screen remains black regardless of what I do. Using the the Power button does nothing. I cannot turn it on or off. If I call the phone number, it doesn't ring. I have not waited long enough to see whether it goes to voice mail. I wish I could give you more facts or data, but tonight is just the 3rd evening it is behaving this way. Not being a heavy phone user, I just started taking it seriously today.
By feeling the back of the phone, I can tell that it becomes very warm when it is unresponsive. Note: It becomes unresponsive first, then becomes warm. I'm sitting here with it being unresponsive right now. Starting tomorrow, I will make a point of determining exactly the beginning and end of these periods.
Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this sort of thing? Could I possibly have accidentally programmed it into some sort by quiet period? Please help if you can. By the way, T-Mobile is my carrier.

Since you say it's getting hot during these unresponsive spells, that would indicate fairly heavy power drain. Next time it wakes up from one look at: Settings > Battery and see what's using power while the phone is comatose.

Just did the 5.1 OTA update on my Nexus 7 2012 in France. All seems to run better than 5.0.2 Smoother transitions and so far the big lags which did occur with chrome have not reappeared!

I don't think anything is better with WiFi. This morning I took a bike ride and had Bluetooth headphones on with Pandora playing. I had GPS but apparently it wasn't being used. My battery was at 91% after 1.5 hours of that. I got home, turned off Bluetooth and turned on Wi-Fi and didn't touch the phone for an hour. The battery was at 82% when I looked at it again after the hour!

Has anyone tried using the radio from a previous version of android to see if that's the cause? Is that possible?

My temporary workaround is to use wifi only when i need to download heavy data. This keeps my phone from wakelocking on me.
