Help Help. Wifi keeps turning off and on every 10-30 seconds.

LG G3.

fine everywhere else but at my cabin. Wifi turns off and then back on like 2 seconds later. no matter what app i'm using, they will close too. Very frustrating. no one else has this problem here, and all my other services work fine (laptop, kindle, wii, etc.).

I tried changing the router off of "auto" and selected a channel. this did not help.

I tried forgetting the connection on my phone, that did not help.

I do not want to hard reset my phone if I don't have to.

any other suggestions?

thanks!

Have you rebooted the cabin router? Is there a low IP range set on the router (e.g. only say, 5 IP's available and all are taken by other devices)? Could be an IP conflict. Do you have any fancy characters or spaces in your SSID? Do the security protocols match?

Perhaps, as a test, try setting the router to have no security (password). If the G3 device then connects properly, then you have narrowed down the issue and can re-enable security and work on the issue.

You say that wi-fi turns off and on -- does the wi-fi icon actually disappear and appear or did you mean that your connection drops and re-connects (two different things) but wi-fi stays on on the device?

sorry, I guess my phone is the 4G LTE...

regardless...no, the router is not password protected. i turned the security to basically nil. i tried rebooting the router last fall and really screwed other things up, so I won't try that again.

Yeah, my phone will show "connection disabled" and then will automatically reconnect like 3 seconds later.

i will try disabling the 5ghz band.

Rebooting the router should theoretically be painless (just pull the power plug for a minute or two, then plug it back in. Resetting the router [back to defaults] is another story and might be what you are remembering as a bad experience.

What model router do you have? Part of the reason I ask is that sometimes, certain routers and certain devices just do not get along (very rare but a possibility). Updating the firmware in the router is also a possibility but I would guess you may be reluctant to do the update (understandable -- but if you tell us the router make/model, we can probably walk you through finding out what version firmware you have, and tell you if newer firmware is available).
