ATT Note 3 Lollipop .. rolling out now...

I'm a UK user on T-mobile. Everything works as it should (except the gps search symbol flashing up constantly). No data lost. No reload needed or anything. Took about two hours to load and install. Some icons are slightly different ie more "modern" design. Icons placed together in folders can now be given an individual background colour. Different default colours for messages eg messages now bright orange, phone now turquoise. music now light blue. Notifications screen now same light blue as music. Different way of organising the screens after pinching the main screen re wallpapers, widgets and hoome screen. So far so good.

Actually it hasn't helped. I've cocked up somewhere. Read a previous post elsewhere on this forum that said to delete the data associated with the Unified Daemon (EUR) as well and now I have utter chaos. Have tried restore but it hasn't restored previously downloaded apps. When I've then downloaded what's missing they then don't open and/or delete themselves. Anyone know what I can do to return my usually fault free phone to normal? Am now 5.0 though errors are my fault not due to new update. Many thanks.

I upgraded before it was announced that it is available...AT&T. There are massive improvements. Then there are things that I have trouble locating, just like others. I'm not suffering any battery loss. But there are a F ton of things it has as apps and the like that you have to disable in app mgr. Why they decided to put the Uber app in there is puzzling. If you're rooted or were and it says "Custom" at the boot screen it probably won't install. And yeah there are more system menu items among other things.

My Note 3.. 2 nights ago.. asked to upgrade.. would NOT let me ignore it.. only postpone the notification.

so I let it. it took about 5 mins to complete.
when if finished.. I rebooted it.

works fine..
battery is the same (I think).
I really like the new animations... and notification pull downs.
how I can minimize (some apps).. so that I can multi-task.
I like the new dialer.

but I don't like the lock screen functions.
I used to have 4 apps that I could launch... Now I can only do: Phone or Camera
lost media controls on lockscreen. Pandora does NOT let me pause or skip tracks. I have re-installed Pandora, but still the same.

Both my wife and I updated our Note3's via WiFi yesterday evening. Took a while and the phones got pretty hot but all went through fine. I have noticed a bunch of annoyances with this new OS:

1. Colors: I drive with my phone docked. Having these pastel, bright color scheme all over the place may be some sort of new, hip look, but I find it annoying. I will be looking around for apps, and themes that will bring all this to a dark, black background, basic theme within messaging, music, etc that won't kill my night vision.

2. Music Player: The default media player seems to act funny now. Besides the annoying colors mentioned above, in landscape mode, it's almost useless. It doesn't know how to present the same sort of information as it does in portrait mode. I can no longer see the track list in landscape, and instead it shows me a bunch of "suggested" songs I should chose from if I so desire. Huh??

3. Weather App: For some reason, my weather and clock widget stopped updating. Today it finally offered to obtain information from a different feed or something and now it's working. Strange but ok. There are plenty of these but I really liked this one the best.

So, in summary, it looks like I'll be searching for a new txt message aggregator and media player --apps that can render useful information in a landscape mode just as well as portrait, and apps that have a dark color scheme for driving.

also...

making selections "default"...
before, when you made something default.. it became part of some master list of defaults.
so when you wanted to change one thing.. you had to delete all defaults; and start over!
which made me hesitant to make something default.

in Lollipop.. there are a list of default selections. and you can clear each separately.
found by... long pressing the home button
select the "pie" at the bottom left
select "defaults" from the menu at top

there are a few things I don't like.

example:
missed calls notifications.
before I could dismiss it from the pull down tab.. this would also void it on the dialer too.

now.. I can swipe the notification awau.. but it will still be highlighted on the dialer.
till I pull up the dialer.

oh.. I have lost a few widgets...
the one I really need. is the Calendar Widget. it displays the daily things that I have scheduled.
anyone know how to get it back?
I was annoyed about this one too, I used that a lot. Other than this I really like Android 5.0, also for those with S-View covers there are new settings, one of which I was hoping for, the analogue clock in the window when checking the time, there are others too.

Things just went from bad to worse. I regret this upgrade more than any before. Not only is the color scheme in the back end (system settings, pull down menu, etc) annoyingly bright and can't be changed from what I can tell, my battery life was about half of what it was before. I read some people got this issue fixed with a reset so I loaded up Kies, did a full backup, and then all hell broke lose. After the reset, I did a restore (boy was that a joke). NOTHING important seemed to make the trip back. I think I managed to keep my messages, phone logs, and email settings. All my app settings, launcher, and custom ringtones were lost.

Now that I've done a reset, I seem to be unable to load custom ringtones in this OS. I can change the incoming call ringtone but that's it. It doesn't seem to see any files I have loaded in the Ringtone folder.

I have lost hours of time and really wasn't that unhappy with v4 to be honest. I sure wish I could just roll back... Absolutely not worth it from my standpoint.

--Oh yeah... Battery life still sux!!

Latest frustration: Notifications!! Apparently, it got all messed up in this new version compared to how it used to work. Now I have a folder for Ringtones --and that just handles phone call sounds. Want to add a custom sound to a text message or email? Forget it. I've looked all over the place today to no avail. I've re-added the files to my phone as MP3, ogg... No luck. So now I've lost yet another feature. This is just a disaster!!

Oh, and I thought I might be at a good solution with Handcent to aggregate my text messages but it turns out they just recently added ads (or pay $3/mo)... My world is just falling apart (1st world problems for sure).
