Verizon Lollipop is here!

This is a known issue with lollipop for g3. According to XDA, Verizon has notified LG about it. They are supposedly working on an update to fix it. There are workarounds if I root the phone. But, they don't sound too appetizing.
I guess this is as good a reason as any to not update. I do most of my work on wifi and hangouts and gmail are my two biggest areas of focus.

Wish I had a) checked here first and b) believed the warning about "No Gmail notifications while wifi is turned on".

I've got a lot of things set to alert me through my gmail account, and I depend on the notifications.

Well, let's see how the VPN works. Phone@work w/ no wifi will be sport.

C'mon 5.0.2! Oh heck, let's be greedy. C'mon 5.1!!!!

May have to fire up and re-sim the G2 if this doesn't get fixed fast.

Prior to hard reset, which I didn't want to do unless I had to, decided to look around for info.

Googling around a bit brought up a thread at reddit that had what appears to be the fix.

Go into the applications manager. All tab. Google Play Services. Clear the cache.

Brought back gmail notifications while wifi is active. Rah.

Not sure what it would do for Hangouts since I don't use that, but since it seems to be tied into the whole google play services subsystem thingee, it might be worth a try.

Very strange I was angry for upgrading, nothing worked well (mail and gmail not at all on my wifi) just like everyone else. Suddenly tonight I'm getting notifications as usual and apps quickly connect to wifi as they always did. Everything seems fine after 2 days of shit. No reset, no wifi change. Just started working normally again. I hope it lasts.

Mine seems to have smoothed out as well. I think the wifi email issue may be an insecure connection.
My work wifi is labeled as not secure, and the wifi symbol on the pull down has an exclamation point on it...think that's why some emails don't come through.

My home wifi is secure, and emails come through as normal, and no exclamation point on the wifi symbol either.

I know that my Yahoo! mail has NEVER come through when I'm on work wifi, even before lollipop.
