Root [Verizon] Root on kitkat

I'm thinking you missed a step on your phone. USB debugging enabled?

I've gone through the steps multiple times. The settings have no option for 'USB debugging", everything says for Verizon it should be set to "internet connection/ethernet" which is how I've set it. I've also tried every other setting as well and keep getting the same not connected message. Is there someplace other than PC connection to set "USB Debugging" that I am missing?. It's really pi$$ing me off as I really want to root this phone so I can get rid of the Big Red bloatware and run root-only apps...

Wish I could say the same! I have an LG Enact that I picked up on eBay in great shape, running KitKat, but I want it rooted. I've done everything I'm supposed to, Airplane Mode, USB Debugging, RSA fingerprint accepted (and remembered), ethernet mode, ran ioroot 25 ("ioroot_25r1")... the phone reboots into the stock recovery, I select "Apply update from ADB"... and that's where it ends. An error message pops up on the ioroot console saying "device not found", my computer says that "a USB device has malfunctioned and is not recognized", and the phone sits there waiting for something that never comes.

The installed PC driver for this phone is v. 3.13.2, which is supposedly the newest driver available from LG -- unless Verizon has its own newer driver -- but I've tried about 5 of them, none makes a difference. I even downloaded the Verizon/LG "Software Update" tool, but that didn't change a thing either. What am I missing?

It occurs to me that there may be another way to root, without the PC being connected at all. The stock recovery console has options to "apply update from cache" and "apply update from external SD card". I have tried both of them, however, without success. I put the ioroot files on the SD card (with "kkroot.zip" in root position), but recovery is unable to read from the card at that point, says there are no "CSI structures available" or something. And I have looked for the "cache" on the phone, but whatever "cache" it means is NOT under "internal storage", it must be on some system partition... and without root, I can't look elsewhere within the phone. Suggestions?

Here's a screenshot of what happens in the adb window, from start to finish:
