Tether without Root

Ok, so every 4g phone that i've had, I've rooted. I just picked up an lg g3 and was thinking of not rooting and just use pdanet or one of the paid tethering apps.

My question is, is anyone running into any problems, will verizon see it since I'm not rooted? I use upwards of 50-60gb a month.

Tethering is NOT going to enable you to bypass the DATA limit on your plan, regardless of what app you use to get the job done.

I have had good luck with FoxFi but I am still on 4.4.4 and it works with my Verizon S5.

I don't have it installed anymore though, as my new plan includes tethering. I think VZW finally gave up with trying to prevent it. DATA is DATA regardless of how you access it. Stupid Advertizing folks think we should pay for using data on a laptop.... downright criminal.

I totally understand that. I have 4 unlimited data plans and we use about 200gb combined for the past 4 years. we tether but all of us have either rooted or jailbroken our phones before tethering. This is the first time I'm going to pay for one of the tethering apps and was wondering if anyone has any problems with verizon or any of the carriers, going this route. Only reason I dont want to root, is the phone companies and manufactures are making it harder and harder. So basically my question would they know I"m using my phone as a hotspot and charge me the extra fee.

Like you said, these mofos are criiminals . Trying to take every last cent they can, whatever way they can.

Its our jobs to say, "screw the man"

No, to stay explicitly with your question, no way can they tell you are tethering.... as it is just DATA.

I used FoxFi for several years and never had a problem with VZW yelling at me that I was not "buying their tether plan".

Want to make it harder for them?
install a VPN plan on your phone. I have www.purevpn.com installed on my phone when I want to "disappear"....

I always use VPN when I use public WiFi routers. No snoop dogs are going to catch me entering any passwords. My IP changes all over the place every time I sign on.... depends on my mood.

I'm "in Jacksonville, Florida" as I type this.
Yesterday I was in Mexico City :)
When you login to pure vpn, you can select the server you want, or just accept the Worlds Fastest Server. Your choice.

I bought the annual package, and paid up front, it comes out to $4.16/month which I think is very reasonable. They allow you to install their vpn on 5 devices in your household for that same price.

Odd thing is, on my desktop PC, World's Faster Server last week was Mexico City and my download speeds according to www.speedtest.net were a little over double my normal AT&T ADSL speed limted plan.

On my cellphone, it is both faster and slower, depends on time of day I guess.

Been using this for years:

Klink - Tether without root

Paid four bucks for it back then, just once, and that was that.

Kudos to the developer on that app for what I just read:

As some users may have difficulty evaluating everything within the 15-minute refund window, a once-per-user 24-hour return policy is in effect; simply include your order email or number when contacting support. No one should feel rushed. Please contact support if you need any help during setup.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Now its time to see which one I'm gonna get. Klink sound pretty good from what I've read, but it seems like its only through usb. Thats a no go for me. I need something that I can use through wi-fi. I connect everything through my phone, xbox/ps, computer, laptop, etc. if it need internet connection, it's going through my phone.

I recommend PIA. Private internet acesss. I have never used purevpn. I use PIA and it is fantastic.

I'm Mountain View, California, USA as I type this. :D Of course I'm actually in Inner Mongolia, PR China. A VPN is a wonderful thing.

I need serious help. I have zero clue what rooting is, tethering etc etc. I believe "rooting" is to such brains from phone and Frankenstein it to use other carrier plans and tethering is sharing data from multiple devices but who knows.
Anyways I am so sick of paying a minimum verizon bill of $723 per month because I'm always hitting my 50KB of Data every month. So I stayed up late last night reading and reading of how to get back at Verizon. Btw I have a note 3 and Galaxy pro.
My plan is month to month. So I don't understand if I should be using foxfi when leaving the house or no, should I be using a hot spot. I have zero clue. If someone really wants to be a good somariton I can email u screenshots of my bill.
