Apparently, T-Mo has has begun throttling heavy users. What will this mean for us?

Doesn't data prioritization throttle the top 2% - 3% of users only when a tower is congested? So if the tower you're using isn't busy there is no throttling?

Yes, only during network contention. As pointed out numerous times in that reddit post, this is taken from the Network Management Practices

This means that customers who use more data than what is used by 97% of what all customers use in a given month, based on recent historical averages, might in some cases have their data usage prioritized below the data of other customers during times and in places of network contention.

I had this since the first day of service.. told myself screw it.. i'm going to the 40$ plan

Sprint already has that same verbage in their unlimited plan, if top tier data user, may be throttled on peak times to a tower, blah blah

Now my gf has the $50 unlimited everything (no longer offered) plan. And some times of the day, it drops to hspa+ or hspa. I had her download LTE Discovery app. Its a fast way to cycle the data radio (or just use airplane mode on/off)
It cycles the phone back to LTE and 12 -20 Mbps right away.

Maybe your phone is doing the same. She (we) only use her phone up to 10-15GB a month. We had the Galaxy Avant at first, got horrible LTE at home. Just changed to the Galaxy light, it grabs LTE so much better then the Avant at home. No clue why.

Yeah, I'm not really throttled either but at my house my speeds suck until late at night because of tower congestion. When I'm out an about my speeds can be amazing sometimes depending on the location.
Has it always been this way? If it is somewhat recent, one would assume it is due to rerouting of users to other towers as they currently work on the others. Hopefully that is the case and you can get more consistent speed soon. Last time I had a sudden degradation in service, it last for about 3 weeks. This was at work where I barely use my phone so it wasn't too much of a nuisance. Afterwards, my speed doubled. The problem is that the penetration to the room where I currently work sucks (and always has) so I only get the good speeds on my smoke breaks.

Galaxy 850M Factory Unlocked on Metro- calls, mms texts work great but Data Speeds are sporadic.
As soon as I get a very high speed- in 2 minutes it will go down to 3 to 7 mbps or lower...
Is this a throttle or prioritization to a lower speed-?
I can sometimes change APN and again high speed once then much lower in 2 minutes .

I'm on metro pcs customer for almost a year now, and I was a happy camper till about 4-5 months ago that I felt their LTE speeds started to be horrible. Between 6am-8am when at work the speeds are pretty good (27 Mbps of download) after that I don't get not even 1 Mbps of download. I had 2 other people run speed tests too and the it was the same. One of hem has same phone like me on metro pcs also and the other has T-Mobile. We are all on the unlimited plans. Wonder if it is just congestion on the network.
