Help Help! RAZR MAXX HD battery life is terrible

Like others, I had the battery drain issue after the KitKat update. I also had random 2-5 second freeze ups. Rebooting nor clearing the system cache would help so last night I did a factory reset. I'm happy to report my battery is lasting much longer now and no random freezing. Previously I would go from 100% to 5% in 12 hours of light use. My first day since the reset and I'm at 37% (from 100%) after 14.5 hours with more use than normal due to re-entering app username/passwords. It's not as good as it was prior to KK but I still have some tweaking to do. Other than having to remember username/passwords it wasn't that bad of a process. I'm a bit bummed it worked as well as it did because I was ready to upgrade to the Turbo :) Buddy at work just got one and it's one sweet phone.

A quick update... I purposely left it off the charger last night to see what it would be down to in the morning. No use (screen off) from 11 - 6 and it still had 5% left. By the time I got to work at 9:30 it was down to 1% with random FB activity. That's 26.5 hours post reset and IIRC 13 hours prior to reset.

I did a factory reset a little more than a month ago, and my battery life increased significantly. It was great about 18 months ago when I purchased it, but became more like a few hours before the reset. After the reset, my battery life lengthened somewhat to about 7 hours with heavy use (I play words with friends frequently in my free time), but still not as long as before the kitkat update. Other features of the phone also improved such as bluetooth playback with my car and headset (I use my Google Music from my phone every day), as well as wifi connectivity, and the response time when opening apps is quicker.

About 2 months ago my battery life decreased significantly again so I did a factory reset and configured my accounts but this time battery life didn't improve. What I discovered was my corporate email which was set for push notifications was keeping the phone awake. Even though I has rules to separate messages into different folders at the Exchange server and only had the main inbox set to push, it must be pushing out a notification prior to moving the new messages into the sub folders. Once I disabled the push notifications the battery life was excellent.
