Phone "spins" off Qi Charger

Hi All -

I picked up a Galaxy S6 over the weekend and ordered a RavPower Qi Charger (RP-WCN7(B)) from Amazon, which arrived yesterday. (Note I had already drained phone to low charge level and charged via wall charger over the weekend, before receiving the Qi charger). Plugged in Qi charger last night, placed phone down, it started charging. Yay! I went to sleep.

Then something weird happened. I woke up this morning and found the phone had "twisted/spun" counter-clockwise and had fallen off the charger. Checked the battery level, and it seems that the phone must not have been on the charger for more than 15 minutes. I thought it was weird, but maybe there was an earthquake I didn't feel (I live in CA afterall). Put the phone back on the charger, and laid back down. Within 15 minutes, I heard a noise, looked over, the phone had done the same thing and fallen off. I put it back, checked after 10 minutes, and while the phone hadn't fallen off this time, it had clearly moved/spun slightly from where I placed it.

*I tested this again today and have video of it. Not sure if I can post a link here being that I am a new user. Ill try to post, otherwise can someone PM me who is willing to post it?

I tried Googling this issue and found NOTHING. I called RavPower and they said they had never heard of this, asked me to try it one more time tonight, if still experiencing the problem to send back to Amazon as this should NOT be happening.

Has ANYONE experienced or heard of anything like this happening, regardless of charger or phone? This is SO weird. While I don't know exactly how Qi charging works, I realize there are coils in there that are likely sending electrical currents in what I assume is a clockwise direction. Maybe the charger is too powerful? Will this damage my phone?? Or maybe my phone is too new and just needs to be broken in? I have no idea... Please help! Thanks! (sorry for the long post)

Happened all the time until I put a case on. I have the small square qi charger, it makes very little physical contact with the smooth glass back of the phone. Just a fan from across the room or vibrations can and will put it into a spin. With the case, it still sometimes moves but not as easily. I put tape on the charging pad to stick the phone until I got the case.

@dontpanicbobby - haha that's the response I'm getting the most... someone even recommended that I contact the local church about an exorcism lol

@nynvolt - so glad to hear it's not just me (and not a poltergeist)! I'm curious, what Qi charger do you have? I have heard from others with GS6s of a few Qi chargers (mainly the Choe "stadium" charger) that have rubbery/matte finishes that prevent spinning/movement. I have ordered the Choe charger per their recommendations and hope that resolves the issue. We'll see :)

The Galaxy S6 is an OUIJAPHONE when it comes to wireless charging pads. Mine slides of my CHOE Upgraded QI pad like an air hockey puck in slo mo. First I thought it was ambient room vibrations from nearby machinery but I think it's more likely internal vibrations from the phone and induction coil. I'm going to try to coat the top of the pad with rubberized spray paint and see if that holds the phone and still charges it. Otherwise I'm just going to toss the pad and go back to old school charging.
