As the title states. At first, I thought it was just an apple thing. I had a couple friends with iphones sending me texts and I never got them. Then my other friend with an HTC sent me a text I never got and so did my dad who owns a flip phone. I'd say I miss 1 in 5 texts from only some people. What's the deal? I'm 5.1 and stock. This has been going on for months. I think I may factory reset to see what happens. Anyone else in this boat?

My brother and I have both have the issue. With both have N6s on T-Mobile. Here are the issues I've had with texting:

- When someone sends me an SMS/MMS, I sometimes don't receive them. If they try again (within seconds), it comes through.
- When I receive a group texts (another form of MMS), I sometimes don't get them. Occasionally, I'll receive the sender's text in my individual thread with the sender and it says something like "Couldn't download MMS. Tap to retry". I tap. Sometimes it works and the message will be delivered to the group text. Most of the time it fails.

I have tried:
- A factory reset
- A new phone
- A different Messaging app (Hangouts)
- Deleting all APNs except the one I'm using
- A new SIM card
- Working with T-Mobile. Their "engineers" checked my network settings in the system and confirmed everything is set up correctly.

My conclusion is that there is something wrong with the Nexus 6 build of Lollipop since it seems as though this issue does not exist on a Nexus 5.

I'm certainly not an expert, so this is purely my layman's opinion :)
I am not sure it is a build issue - because if it were, the problem would be much more widespread. I suspect it may have to do with some apps you have in common that may be causing this bug. Or maybe the tower that your phone is connected to, or something like that.
Assuming you are on the stock ROM, have you tried your phone in safe mode? Do you have the issue then?

Yep, completely stock.

Hmm... I would think that the MMS/SMS module is pretty isolated from the rest of the OS modules since it's so specific. That said, an app conflict could be true since I do have Google Voice and Hangouts installed. I think I might try disabling those to see if the issue goes away. Good idea.

Hate to say this, but I do have GV and hangouts installed on my N6 too... :( So I suspect those two aren't the root cause of the issue. Try the safe mode to rule out a third party app conflict. Also, see if the problem occurs in other areas (when you are connected to a different tower).

Problem is that your issues seems to be sporadic, so hard to troubleshoot... hopefully you can figure out what's going on. All the best :)
