I have a non-rooted 16GB Nexus 10 that I need to increase my storage capacity on. I am looking to take a long trip and need to store several movies and TV shows to take along with me. All I could find here was older threads saying that I'll be able to read from using an OTG device (w/ the help of an app) but I won't be able to write to the device(http://androidforums.com/threads/will-an-otg-usb-to-microsd-adapter-work-for-file-storage.658245/).
These threads are over 2 years and several updates old. Is this still the case? With ver 5.X, do I still have to root in order to write to a device?
What I would like to do is purchase http://www.sandisk.com/products/mobile-flash-drives/dualdrive/
and store all of my movie files on it and as I am ready to view them I can transfer each file onto the tablet and then transfer it from the tablet back onto the adapter/drive once finished. The SanDisk online help that I spoke with said that if my device is OTG compatible then I will be able to do this. I say transfer to and from instead of just reading them off of it because I'm sure I will need to charge my tablet while viewing at some point and the adapter/drive utilizes the same usb port. Thoughts?
