Help Text Messaging on the Moto 360

I have an HTC One M8 and am not rooted.

I am not new to Android, but am new to wear as I just got my first smartwatch a week ago today.

I have the HTC stock messaging app because it is a system app and I cannot remove it. I have Hangouts because it too is a system app and cannot be uninstalled, but I also use this app for IM conversations with friends online. I have ChompSMS as my default SMS app. Chomp has some Wear capabilities, but they seem to be mostly replying and marking read, not starting.

I installed Go temporarily to see if it could pick up the message, but it could not and have now uninstalled it.

ChompSMS (as default) will only display the message if i am replying to a message sent to me. If I initiate the message, then it does not display.

I just tested this, I initiated a text on my watch to my GV number. It sent immediately and showed in GV right away. I was able to view it Hangouts as a sent message.

I have a Moto 360 watch, Moto X 2nd gen phone, use Hangouts as my SMS/MMS (just the SMS option, not signed in to HO's).

Chomp must not have full Wear functionality?

The text message gets sent as the recipient is able to see it and respond. However, it's almost as if the text is not being stored in my SMS database on my phone.

Opening and exiting and re-opening Chomp does nothing. If I switch SMS apps to Hangouts, HTC Messaging, or download and install a different app, they all display all received, sent from phone, and replies from phone and watch, but also do not display the send only from watch.

Just to be clear, if I reply to a received text message from my watch, those replies are viewable on my phone. But if I send a new text (not a reply) it is not viewable on my phone by any SMS app.

This is the weirdest thing ever....

I have tested with Hangouts as the default and nothing changes.

Edit: I even just now uninstalled Chomp completely, restarted my phone, set Hangouts as default for SMS, re-sync'd wear apps, and nothing has changed. Any SMS I initiate from my watch (not including replies) does not show up on my phone.

others have tried hangouts and were able to successfully see the text sent, so thats a viable solution. i have a nex 6 and moto 360 and just did this myself. stock no root 5.1.1 on the nex , sprint build using google fi.

worth to remove everything and just use hangouts. you can also reach out to the developer of chomp and see how up to date that app works with android wear.

there is an android wear section on this site you should also check out. perhaps others with different devices are also having the issue and its not just local to moto.

worse case factory reset. if you do this android backup has a decent backup service.

Thing is, the only downloaded SMS app I have on my phone is Chomp and I completely uninstalled it. Then tried using Hangouts with reboots and everything.

The HTC Messaging app is a system app and without root I cannot remove it. I could disable it, but have heard that doing so can cause all kinds of issues with sending and receiving SMS and MMS.

I searched and couldn't find anything definitive. Most of the issues I am finding across the web deal with people wanting to use Google Voice as their default SMS number, but not being able to do so with Wear.

Thanks for the input and suggestions. If you think of anything else I could try, short of a factory reset on my phone, please let me know.

If anyone else has any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know.
