Root CM12.1 UNOFFICIAL RC5

Last night, I installed RC2 along with GAPPS, the Redbull sensor fix, NetFixer zip and the test kernel but the test kernel couldn't be flashed for some reason so I went onwards. Everything seemed perfectly nice except for music playing while screen is off. It'd play for 10 seconds and then freeze, and play again after another 5 seconds. The test kernel was made to help with that, correct?

You need to download the test kernel and try again. You may have gotten a bad download.

The kernel that this ROM uses is a modified 4.4.4 kernel right?

Do you think it would work on a 4.4.4 ROM, or only on this one.
As far as I know, yes it is a modified 4.4.4 kernel, but the key word here is 'modified.' Its modified so much that in all likelihood if you tried to use it on a 4.4.4 ROM you would probably get a bootloop.

Okay so I got a chance to get back into the hotel and flash RC2, ironically, all the problems that I DIDNT experience on BETA 2 (touch screen problems, call issues, etc.) All happened on RC2, not saying RC2 is bad or anything, I think that the T-Mobile/Univision variant runs on a unique set of sensors. Idk if I'm a special case, but that's my experience. Still a magnificent rom and I wouldn't be running LP if it wasn't for you bro!

Did you flash the fix?

The Flamingo sensor freezes the screen when listening to music. I flash the kernel fix for the touchscrreen and that doesnt fix the freezing (Touch is not responsive but animations moves).
Can someone that used the Redbull sensor confirm that it does not freeze?
no it does not

I use the flamingo sensor, and I have no freezes, you are just doing something wrong, like flashing an old switcher ziip or something

THESE FILES HAVE BEEN TESTED ON METROPCS ZTE ZMAX (Z970). I AM NOT SURE ABOUT T-MOBILE OR ANY OTHER VARIANT.
Will these files work on cm12 rc2

I would like provide some files to achieve r/w permissions on CM 12.1 BETA 1 <--(THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON THAT VERSION). All credit goes to @Masterchief87 as he made the files. all I did was replace the boot.img on both zips. This follows the same procedures as his files.
I am NOT responsible for ANY BRICKS. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

I am wondering what are the .odex.gz files in /system/app and priv-app?
I'm guessing that they are something similar to regular .odex files in previous versions of android but when I look at /data/dalvik-cache it looks like there are still classes.dex for all the system apps. Can anyone tell me what purpose these .odex.gz files serve?

Edit: Is the presence of these files also why this ROM is substantially larger than other aosp lollipop ROMs?

yeah that is why it is larger, and it also boots up like 10 time quicker on first boot, which I need, cause I am constantly flashing new builds and wiping

No, not a special case. I have the same issue, i revert bact to beta 2 and 1 and i think the Flamingo sensor is the one making the screen faulty for me
