Is link2SD the best app to get more space?

In Google play there are only two others apps that show up as related to Link2SD, and both have lower customer feedback scores.

Is Link2SD the best app to move stuff to the SD Card, and what options are there?

I'd say yes it is, I haven't seen much serious discussion about alternatives and I know from personal experience that it works. Of course your phone has to be rooted, and you have to properly partition your SD card (this is best done on a PC and not on the phone). Additionally if you want to be able to move the app data files in addition to the apps themselves, you must format the card in ext vs. FAT and you need to upgrade to the paid version of the app.

Also note your ROM must support init.d scripts or Link2SD will not work.

I have got the partition manager now and am about to create partitions. I will force move enormous apps to the SD card, and also move videos. Are those to be moved to resepctively a FAT32 and EXT4 partition?

I'd move videos to the partition the Android OS sees normally, i.e. the first partition, which you should leave as fat32.

Moving apps to SD can mean one of 2 things: moving them the Froyo/Gingerbread way to the first partition of the card, or moving to the second partition (presumably ext4) and linking to them.

In the start I got folder mount premium, which worked quite good. But as time passed by I started using link2sd plus which showed more features and required less user attention. Meaning it was more reliable from my side.

Edit : If you have a low internal partition smartphone, which cannot download big games you can use the combination of both Link2SD and Folder Mount to mount files with and then bind it to the secondary partition with Link2SD. I did this at the beginning when I had low internal storage on my LG L70 D320n.

This is not an app but performs a similar function as Link2SD but I always felt it did it better.

You have to have a custom recovery because it is a script that is flash from recovery. Your ROM still needs init.d support and there are several options to choose from as well. Once it is set up no further user interaction is required and your phone operates as if it has a large partition for app storage because now it does.

Interesting! What specifically can Foldermount do that Link2SD can't?

I am using Link2SD now, and it works like magic. I'd like to hear more about this.

Well first of all good question, I am also not using Foldermount now as I have increased my Internal Partition space of my LG L70. Thanks to @Kamil Mazik on this forum.

But before, when I had a small Internal storage on my LG L70 D320n(around 1.2gb). I could not download big games from the play store like Asphalt 8 or Gangster Rio. So I downloaded it from external links (still legit like apk4fun and some others) . Then I would put it on my SD Card/Android OBB and using FolderMount I would mount it to internal(It wasn't working from external obb. And Link2SD couldn't bind it properly from external as well at that time.). And finally bind it with my Link2SD Plus to the secondary partition. And all this hard work finally pays off.

Try downloading Universal Int.d app from google play store or XDA (try googling it). And it will tell you if you have int.d support or that app will help you get it. Cheers.

Basically it does the same as Link2SD, but when Link2SD doesn't work on some apps, Foldermount might work?

Linking Dalvik files sometimes makes app unable to load with Link2SD, that's happened a couple of times on the apps I've got.

I solve my " link2SD " Prob's with using the App called " GL2SD " and it works great.

Foldermount was cool but I had the same Prob's loading a lot of games and so I found GL2SD.

GLtoSD may be a better solution for games with very large data files.
I had no problems with Link2SD when I was using it but I was using the free version and linking app and library files only. I'm not a gamer so I don't have any of those huge apps to worry about.

Well, I don't know about that because when I link the apps through Link2SDcard, the applications disappear from the phone and have to download it all over again(first they become ghosts), and I have the pro version(the dark one)

It's really going to depend on what version of Android you're running and how you have your SD card partitioned.

Keep in mind that this thread is well over two years old when KitKat was new and most people were trying to get more out of their Jellybean and ICS devices. With KitKat after 4.1 they changed the way storage was partitioned and with Marshmallow (6.x) you could partition your SD card as an extension of your internal storage.

I really haven't seen much practical success for L2SD with newer phones.

and to expand on that, I'd like to mention that what the app does you can do your self with some adb and linux shell commands , and save the bothers of all those PoP-up's and screen Grab ad's that come bundled with those apps.
also in most newer versions of android , it comes as an option to adopt storage in settings> storage> advanced

hope I save someone from the ad empire LoL.
