Root [MOD] Raise Max Volume on Speaker and Headphones

I did a manual change.... Got it to stick....
First text I got scared the poop out of me...
Wish the speaker was as good/big as the rest of the phone... Gets crunchy muffled in the mids...
I'm on pac-man 12.1 .....
For some reason... Every time I did the manual mod on cm12.1 things never got louder....
BUT!!!!, it's all good now

There's a complicated scientific formula involved...
Is been derived from hours and hours of crushing numbers and eating jolly ranchers.......
But, I will share it with you.... And only you!!!!.... (No one look please....)
Put everything under 20 to 20 ...
And everything over 20 to 95.......
And leave everything with a 1 ....
Or "zero" alone....
For who knows how much magic smoke it will release from your magic pOcket calculator,!?!?!?!?....
NOT I!!!!!!

*****WARNING: THIS WORKS FOR SOME AND DOESN'T WORK FOR OTHERS FOR SOME REASON, MAKE A BACKUP FIRST BEFORE DOING ANYTHING******

*****WARNING #2: THIS XML FILE WAS PULLED FROM THE METRO 4.4.4 VERSION OF THE PHONE, I'M NOT SURE IF THIS WILL WORK ON THE 4.4.2 TMO VERSION, IF IT DOES FOR ANYONE, LET ME KNOW******

If any of you are like me you reeeeeally hate how low the volume on the phone speaker is, this is a mod to help remedy that and raise the max volume on the phone.

STEPS:
1. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULL R/W ABILITY
2. NAVIGATE TO /SYSTEM/ETC AND LOCATE THE MIXER_PATHS.XML FILE.
3. COPY THE ORIGINAL AND SAVE ON YOUR SD CARD.
4. DOWNLOAD THE MODIFIED MIXER_PATHS.XML FILE HERE OR IF YOU'D LIKE TO DO IT MANUALLY SCROLL DOWN FOR INSTRUCTIONS.
5. PASTE THE XML FILE IN THE SAME /SYSTEM/ETC FOLDER AND FIX PERMISSIONS TO RW-R--R--
6. GO TO /VENDOR/APP AND DELETE ALL DOLBY FILES.
7. REBOOT PHONE AND YOU SHOULD NOTICE MUCH LOUDER VOLUME OUT OF YOUR SPEAKER!
8. ENJOY!

MANUAL CHANGE:
1. GO TO /SYSTEM/ETC AND LOCATION MIXER_PATHS.XML
2. OPEN FILE USING A TEXT EDITOR OR DOWNLOAD AN XML EDITOR FROM THE PLAY STORE.
3. SCROLL DOWN CLOSE TO THE BOTTOM AND LOOK FOR <PATH NAME="SPEAKER">
4. BELOW IT YOU WILL SEE THIS LINE:
<ctl name="RX3 Digital Volume" value="84" />
5. CHANGE VALUE FROM "84" TO WHATEVER YOU WANT, I RECOMMEND 90 - 95.
6. SCROLL TO THE VERY TOP OF THE SCRIPT AND FIND:
<ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX3 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX4 Digital Volume" value="84" />
7. CHANGE ALL OF THESE VALUES TO THE SAME VALUE YOU SET AT BELOW.
8. SAVE CHANGES AND REBOOT.
9. ENJOY!

Just remember playing anything on the phone speaker at super loud volume may blow the speaker so be smart with you volume control.
This works flawless! I have a question though... How do I get the Aux volume increased as well?? I thought headphone volume would increase it as well but it doesnt... Any idea what that line should say or look like? Thanks in advance!!!

Cool do you notice much of a difference with headphones?

With the method I used..
I don't listen to headphones...
But,I use my phone for music in the car. Via Pandora ....
And I have to turn it down.. The level at high volume is too high for the line in... Which means it may have allot of mid range crunch/blat type of distortion with headphones ..
And might cause more headphone damage than ear damage before you turn or down... But, at 4/5 of volume it's NICE...
You have that headroom.. Know what I mean?

Yes I meant to ask about the line output not headphones. I play my phone at work and sometimes songs are really low, lower bitrate songs I guess. I downloaded the module Volume Steps too see if there would be a difference but nothing so far. I'll try this method out now that I got the R/W zips flashed.

this mod worked great . all my volumes have increased significantly . my only problem is when i am talking to someone on the phone. the volume is way to loud even all the way down. which line in the mixer file controls the in call volume ? i want to leave all the others boosted and just turn down the in call one. ... thanks jeff

I also have this question. I mean, I know I can just adjust the values to 85 rather than 95, but that isn't what I want. I want all the other volumes raised except the in call volume.

And i don't want to go changing every value either...

I did this back before we had cm12 or PACman ROM. I'm now on PACman, so I have to redo them. I will see if I can figure out which one is strictly incall volume, and report back.

Just look up, its towards the top of the xml file.

<ctl name="HPHL Volume" value="20"/>
<ctl name="HPHR Volume" value="20"/>

And change the RX setting there too.
Where do I change the rx setting for this? Or were you just saying that it's right above were we change all the rx settings?

Hey sorry been off for a couple of days.

If you guys want to try to use the zip go for it, but from what I've seen the majority of the people who get it working the most is doing the manual change.

Hey so I have come across an issue. When doing this yesterday, I wasn't sure about the headphones part, so I just went ahead and did the regular parts, the parts that I had previously done on my phone (see old comments from months ago.) Before when I did it, there was instant success. Everything was incredibly louder. Yesterday, when I did it to the same phone (but this time I'm running a 5.1 ROM, rather than a 4.4 ROM) and lost all sounds from my device. I tried restoring the old file that I had made a copy of, and it didn't work. I then booted into recovery, cleared the cache, cleared the delvic cache, and still no dice. No sound whatsoever. I had flash my backup. I have been reading up on this, and it seems like 5-10% of people have this issue... My question is if my phone is affected by this " glitch" how did I get it to work months ago? Could it of been the text editor I used? Have you heard of anyone else that could use this mod previously, and now can't?
