Who loves this phone?

Time for me to upgrade. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people here jumping up and down about how much they love their phone. I don't think I'm interested in the Galaxy. I like the LG G4 but so big and my hands are smallish.

Any advice or recommendations? Where is the HTC love?

FWIW I've not seen much love for the M9 in China. They're available, but never seen anyone with one. Even HTC in general, just don't see too many of them. What is getting love here, Samsung S6 Note4, Oppo Find7 N1 & N3,, Xiaomi Redmi, Vivo X5, iPhone 6 & 6+, that's what I've seen people buying and using at the moment. That's for flagship(expensive) devices, plenty of others as well of course.

This is a very nice phone.
With that said, one can't make an informed recommendation w/o knowing what's important for you, as far as features go.
You mentioned overall size is important, & the M9 has a nice feel-in-hand, with & without a case.
Which other features are important to you?

I mostly browse, text, and take pics. I'm hoping there will be a software update for the camera. I don't like that I can't change out the battery, but I could probably survive. I had an HTC in the past and Sense is the best. I want to come back, but don't want to be stuck with a lemon.

Audio is tops.Browsing/text is fine (HTC Browser is tops,IMHO,port it to all of my devices),SENSE is smooth as silk,as always.
Battery life is just fine,should be able to get a days use before re-charging.
I'm not much of a photog,so,I can't comment on that,but,it is a feature important to most.
The only gripe I have is the button placement:
All 3 buttons are on the same side & similar in size (2 volume/1 power).
I wish they would have left the power button on top,as they had w/the M8,but,again,I'm in the minority w/that sentiment.
A more pleasing to the masses option would have been to place the power button on the opposing side.

Overall,I recommend the M9.
If you haven't tried out a demo,I think you'll be pleased & will walk out w/one in-hand.
If you're on T-Mobile,now's a good time to pick it up,it's marked down $100 to $549.

Yeah, I saw this one. I'd feel more comfortable if the update would come before I bought the phone.

I had the M7 in 2013 and loved it, upgraded to the M9 in May and love it even more. Absolutely no regrets. Main uses are browsing (+1 @KOLIO - I think HTC's browser is superb - surprisingly it didn't come pre-installed but is now available on Playstore so was the first thing I downloaded

), texts, maps and navigation (mainly hill walking using OsmAnd+) - can't fault the GPS capabilities. I don't take a huge amount of photographs and find the camera more than adequate.

Battery life is excellent for my usage - I would say a definite improvement on the M7 which itself was well acceptable. In fact I was so concerned about the battery situation I bought the HTC battery pack for the M7 for peace of mind when out walking but have never had the need to use it - although I do use it now and again for convenience. I certainly have far less concerns about being unable to change out the battery on either device - the M7 is still performing as good as ever.

I particularly like the 'double tap to wake' option, which coupled with the optional 4th soft button set to 'screen off' means I hardly ever use the power button.

Unbelievable though it might be, there have been comments that the M9 is slow compared to the M7 & M8 - I can't comment as regards the M8, but there is no way the M9 is slower than the M7, at least as far as my M9 and M7 are concerned.

I think it's a cracking phone, superbly engineered and is most certainly not a lemon.

It's not the best phone out, but it's a solid phone. The performance is snappy. Sense is pretty great. The front facing cam is good. The main cam is about to get better. The battery reliably gives a full day. It does get warm sometimes, and I do get a warning about it working too hard. That's rare though.

well fellows i got mine and loving it. thanks again fellows. it may not be the best. but as @WuBoy said a solid performer. not much difference from my m8 now let me see what 5.1 will bring (never satisfied)

I like mine a whole lot. I got mine like a week or two after it came out on Verizon. Battery could be better, and I believe the display is a bit too cool in terms of color temp. Hopefully the 5.1 update makes both of these points a bit better. I use mine heavily for music and it is the best portable music device I have ever had by far. Has tons of power for headphones, sounds clean and clear. It even drives my big AKG Q701 very decently. I just got a 128GB memory card a week ago and loaded it with 86GB of FLAC and high bitrate MP3, and I also use Spotify premium on the phone as well. It's definitely the best smartphone I've had.

This is my list of smartphones from current to oldest (just for reference when I say this is my favorite):
One M9 > Galaxy S4 > iPhone 4 > HTC Incredible > original Motorola Droid

I like Android, and I've seen it progress all the way from the original Motorola Droid, which was when Android in my opinion first really took off and started to become mainstream.

I have too, but I have not been happy with a few things on 5.1, but it makes a difference if it is the few things you used most.

At least w/this phone,rooting does not void the warranty.
If you should choose to do so,I HIGHLY recommend the VIPER ROM.

I just bought the M9 leaving a Note 2 behind. I was waiting for the Note 5 but had heard no SD card slot. I'm liking the performance and sound of the M9 but I miss the larger phone. I like some Samsung features but the performance of the m9. is pretty fast.

I love this phone. I had an HTC Desire 610 for almost a year; it was my first smartphone but I started to realize how much it was lacking in various things (minimal storage even with a 64GB card, because a lot of apps couldn't go onto the card, no compass, etc.). So I decided to spring for the HTC One M9 and so far I think it's wonderful! I chose to stick with HTC mostly because it was already familiar, but also because the Samsung had no provision for expansion (i.e. no SD card slot, as onemat mentioned). Wish there would be more accessories available for this phone, but I guess since it's relatively new, there's not much out there yet.

That's why I left Samsung. No longer expandable. I do miss the larger size of my Note 2 but I'm impressed by my m9.I also bought the cover...

Well,it's been fun everyone,but,I've decided to move on from the M9.
It's still a great phone that I highly recommend for anyone,lots to like,a feature packed powerhouse of a phone.
I change phones often & I've had this one since opening day,almost 5 months,a lifetime for me in a phone.

I'll be back in the HTC community sooner rather than later,their phone build quality & Sense U/I is the best out there.
If HTC makes a device w/a display greater than 5" available to the North American markets,I'll be all over it. :cool:

i change my phones about every 6 months( ish) i have had the S6 \S5\S4 the kids have had the samsung mini variations i have now got the M9 & i would say it is every bit as good as the S6 only exception is low light photos but there are a few camera apps out there that get around this.also the big PLUS is i can put my 128gb sd card in it

Build quality is excellent as is the battery life (better than the S6), i would love to get the new M9+ btu might have to save up a bit longer

I have had the m9 since its release. I know this, if i could do it all over again I would have kept my m8 instead of selling it. The only feature that the m9 has that I like is the glove mode which I do not use enough for it to matter. I wish I could say I love this phone as much as I did my m8.

Ive had 40+ phones in 20 years ,among them there has been about 5-6 favourites that were great phones in their day. The HTC One M9 is not one. Its a phone that is flawed, mainly because of the camera and the colours on the screen. I find the menu graphics boring , maybe its not a deal breaker ,but it adds to the overall dismal feeling about the phone. Ok ,the processing power is good, its fast and I love the speakers.
I had a Nokia Lumia 925 before ,I had to revert back to it on an overseas trip recently after I left my HTC on the kitchen table. You know what? I didn't miss the HTC one bit. The camera and screen on the 2 year old Lumia 925 runs rings around the HTC.
The HTC could have been a great phone ,but it is not. Maybe the next edition ,the Aero , or whatever they are calling it will be something special.
Im waiting for the Microsoft Lumia 940/950 range ,then the HTC is going in the classifieds.

The camera on the M9 is crap, on a recent trip overseas my girlfriend's iPhone 4S took substantially better quality pictures than my M9, remarkable considering the M9 is a 20 megapixel camera compared to the 8 megapixal iPhone 4s.

I previously had a Samsung S4 and I really regret not staying with Samsung. The only feature I like about the M9 is the speaker, apart from that the Samsung was better in every single way. Unfortunately I got the phone through a Telco on a 24 month contract so stuck with it for a while to come yet....

Who loves this phone?
