Help Moto 360 System Update thread

Notifications don't seem to swipe away like they used to and it's annoying. Before the update I could swipe/dismiss without tapping to expand it, now I have to actually look at it before dismissing (or, at least tap it). Anyone else noticing this? I did restart the watch to no avail.

Also, when I charged it I would toggle ambient mode in settings (phone) which would turn the watch display off. That no longer works. The display stays dimmed all night long. Have I missed a way to turn the display off while charging in the update?

I cannot speak for the card swyping thing as I don't notice a difference.

As for charging and keeping the screen off, I have always used theater mode. It's easy to turn on (swype down once and right to left once, then tap) and off (press side button then repeat steps noted earlier). Theater mode keeps the screen off during charging.

I haven't had any issue swiping away notifications, I've not needed to open them first.

I'm wondering if there is still a reason to keep the Wear Mini Launcher after getting 5.1.1, since you seem to have a similar (and seemingly better) functionality by tapping the face or swiping left?

I uninstalled it myself. The stock launcher is good. Plus, I was having issues with which location to have wear mini because it now interferes with everything else.

After the update, I need to have the notification open before I can swipe it away. Pretty annoying.

I've also had my screen go completely black while charging, but it only did that on the first day, and it's been normal since.

WiFi isn't working for me, but my phone is on a different 5GHz WLAN that the 360 can't see, so I think that's part of it, even though it's the same internal network.

From what I can tell, WiFi will only try to connect when your phone is disconnected. Try turning off Bluetooth on your phone and watch your watch connect to WiFi.

Hmmmmm... I keep my phone on Auto, but wouldn't think this would have an impact on the watch. I'm guessing the watch is 2G since the radio is older... Who knows?

Yeah... Now I'm not sure. I had gotten it to link over WiFi, but then a few minutes later when I checked it, it was disconnected again.

Thinking about resetting it and starting fresh.

I might do the same. I have been having issues with my watch disconnecting from my phone when my phone is just a few inches away. My watch disconnects from my phone and then connects to WiFi. But my phones is right in my lap. Maybe hard reset is needed to correct??

I had the same disconnect issue for weeks before the update. After the update I couldn't get it to connect at all. I ended up doing the factory reset, and now it's working fine. [emoji4]

I reset my watch, and am experiencing the same behavior as before. I don't know what's up with it yet.

Oh well...

Ok this is my take on the update. Just about to go to bed on Monday night here in the UK when notified that update had arrived . Being a big kid at heart I slapped the watch onto charge and as soon as it was at 85% updated. All went well but on tuesday I noticed the watch was not terrible responsive. However a restart of both the watch and my LG G3 got things working perfectly. Because of the extras that the update contained I have removed the mini launcher, flashlight and find my phone since these are now included. I also removed Coffee since SMS now work very well (I use messenger on my phone) and the way the update presents contacts is much better. I like the fact that font size can be changed, I have it on the largest setting and its great for reading emails etc. Yes you do have to open them before you can delete but I don't find that a problem. I tried it with ambient mode on and the battery seemed even worse than before and I barely got 6 hours out of it. With ambient mode off it will last about 2 days with moderate use. The jury is still out on the Wifi, I have it set to automatic and it seems to work, if I leave my phone in the kitchen and wonder around the house it switches between Bluetooth and Wifi smoothly. Difficult to say if it effects battery life but I will keep a close eye on it and it easy to switch off. What I think it does seem to do is make the Bluetooth connection sensitive. Last night I was sitting watching TV with my phone on the other end of the sofa. It accidently slipped behind a cushion and straight away the watch went to wifi, and I have noticed that the least brief obstruction will cause the watch to do that. This may explain why folks are talking about often loosing Bluetooth connection . Overall I am pleased , I got the watch several weeks ago when it was on special, I think its early days for this technology and I would not want to pay £200+ for one but at the price I paid I am enjoying it. Like lots of people I purchased loads of different watch faces but perhaps I am boring but I keep coming back to the Moto minimalist one. With blue second hand and date activated I think it really suits the watch and looks very smart and I am sure helps the battery.

Update to my earlier post the wifi does have a small impact on battery life albeit you will still get about 18 hours from a full charge. Whist its nice to wonder around the house with the watch always connected I am not sure just how useful it is when you are at home since you can either keep your phone in your pocket and given the fact BT reconnects as soon as it comes in range. I have therefore turned wifi off and have gone back to 24 hour+ battery life.

Didn't work until I switched my phone from the 5GHz network to the same 2.4GHz. :(
It shouldn't matter. The phone and the watch can be on separate WiFi networks (different locations) and the watch should still get notifications. While I don't anticipate using this feature, I tried it out just to see whether it works. It did.
(the watch doesn't stay connected to WiFi the entire time though (likely to reduce power consumption). It connects periodically.

Before the update I was able to pause/play Chromecast with my Moto.
Since the update those controls are gone.

I've looked through the settings in Android Wear and Android Connect, I can't find anything there.

I'm guessing I'm missing a simple setting somewhere, but can't find it.

Anyone know?

Edit: Ugh. The pain of an auto-correct typo in a subject line. :(
