What should I do with my extra new Volt? Just curious...

I recently got a new LG G2 (loving it!) and connected it on Boost Mobile, but I'm still very attached to my Volt and I actually go back and forth between the two on my account with no issues. My guess is probably I feel so attached because it's actually my very first Android phone I have owned. I actually loved it so much that I got a brand new one sealed in the box as a spare in case something were to happen to my baby. Maybe I'm crazy or is it just the OCD?

Well, hence my question. What should I do with the new spare Volt? Now that I have a G2, my original Volt is actually my backup now. My Volt is perfect and mint and running great (Stock ZV5 Odexed) with no issues and so is the brand new G2. I don't really need or want to end up hoarding a new and sealed Volt if my Volt is 100% perfect so I was wondering what people out there would do. I have a few thoughts on this. I obviously thought of selling it, but should I root and install recovery for the buyer if I do sell it? Perhaps even share the tips and tricks I have done to mine? What price point would be fair? Another thought was turning it into a DroidPod or Mini-Tablet. Any thoughts from anyone on this? What else could be done? What would you do?

Ok Clementine_3, I hear you. I was just wondering of any other possibilities that could be done. It's just such a great little phone to play with! Selling locally (Miami, FL) on CL can be a pain in the ass. I never heard of Swappa before, thanks for the info. It's better than eBay? How about the classified section here in androidforums? I'm actually now thinking I'll maybe sell them both. I'll offer to root, install TWRP and many tricks and tweaks like open the WiFi Hotspot for tethering, etc. Then probably get another G2 as a back up.

I'd sell it. Put it on Swappa and Craigslist and be done with it. I'd also not root it, but indicate you can if the buyer wants you to.
Hi, I could possibly save u the trouble of listing it & trying to sell it. I recently began looking for an LG Volt to buy. I've been a long time customer of virgin mobile & forum user. If u would like to message me back with an offer of how much u would take for your spare I would love to buy it from you if I can get it slightly less than buying a new one from virgin directly.
We could make it easy by me buying you a prepaid credit card in the amount you want for the phone. Once u have that then I can give u a ups account # to ship it to me free of charge. I'm in Alabama.

I do apologize for not getting back to you, but I was checking into whether I could use the boost Mobile version on VM and all I could find was that it may be possible but would involve a good amount of work to do so, and right now the VM website has their version for 79.99... And then got busy and basically forgot to let u know but thanks for the offer to help hope u have good luck getting rid of them

No worries wuzdat, I understand. I got busy as well and haven't had a chance to do anything with the phones or even follow up in the forums anyway. I was thinking $85 shipped was a fair price, so I hope you got that deal from VM! I have been so damn busy. I just can't believe how 15 days have flown by. WTF!!!??? Wow. So much to do and so little time! LG Volt II ($149) and the LG Tribute II ($99) are out now from Boost Mobile...

Hey xman95, I bought it on sale from Best Buy for $150 plus tax. No need to flash anything at all. I called up Boost Mobile and they did it OTA in less than 5 minutes. Boost Mobile accepts quite a few Sprint phones. They are listed on the site. Everything works 100% perfectly with no issues, but I have to admit that my Volt (Stock KitKat ZV5 Odexed) performs nearly identical to my G2 (Stock KitKat ZVE Odexed) in every way and I actually like some things better from the Volt. I was even more impressed with the Volt when I got to use my G2 for a while. It's truly an amazing phone for the price!

So your G2 is rooted as well?
Thanks!

The Boost Mobile LG G2 is exactly the same as the one from Sprint after you are done with the activation process and all the updates. All the Boost items (Boost Zone, etc.) loaded up over the air to my Sprint G2. Maybe I just got lucky with my support tech when I called in to activate it. He mentioned that they use a "special tool" to activate Sprint phones on Boost before putting me on hold to go get it from another's desk. There is nothing from Sprint showing after the activation process. I compared it to a friend's that actually bought a Boost G2 (double what I paid) a few weeks before I got mine. My stock ZVE 4.4.2 is identical to his. His came with ZVE KitKat 4.4.2 already loaded while mine came with ZV7 and I had to update it from there to ZV8, ZVA, ZVB, ZVC, and then finally to ZVE. We both rooted using Stump. Sprint has a lot of G2 inventory. A crazy whole lot! That's possibly why they redid some Sprint G2 inventory for Boost Mobile. Just really stupid how they sell them. Not online and thru select stores. Very elusive and some stores sell them for over $300!

I'd get the Sprint version, but when on sale at $150 or hopefully even less. The phone is over 2 years old after all. It was almost $30 less than the Volt at Best Buy, so I jumped on it because of the specs. I took a chance and I don't regret it, but my Volt almost performs just as fast and with better battery life using the same settings. I am constantly testing and comparing them. It's my new hobby. LOL The G2 actually made me appreciate the Volt so much more. The Volt feels better in my hand and I prefer the old way buttons are placed. I just love the Volt's led button on bottom front. Now LG seems to be using G2 design on more of their handsets like Stylo, Volt II and Tribute II. Even other companies (ASUS) have followed suit. I'm trying to get used to it, but I "cup" a phone in my hand. It's a much better grip than with the tips of three fingers and the thumb with index pushing on back center of phone.

So, Boost G2 or Sprint G2? Same exact phone for over $100 less. A simple no brainer. Unless you like the pretty Boost Mobile branded manual and box that it comes in, why pay that much more?

Hey guys! I have been swamped with school and work since mid summer, but I'm baaack! I have to catch up on some threads... So, I gave my personal Volt to the wifey, but unfortunately, I am now really forced to sell my spare Volt. She is on my case calling me a "hoarder"! She didn't like the Volt II, the G Stylo, or the Tribute II due to the buttons layout. She takes way too many screenshots and does not like the new phones at all. Anyways, I listed it on eBay. It's sealed and brand new. Never been activated. I'll provide root, mod, and fixes support to the buyer. Please let me know if there is any interest. Thanks!
