My current ROM has started becoming very buggy lately so I'm waiting for the custom ROMs to release a Lollipop update to get it running smooth again, hate the cuffufle of starting again re registering everything and restoring etc.
I'll give it a go, but I think looking at it, like you I guess, the UI looks very plain and childish in my opinion. My upgrade is in July too I believe and as tempted as I might be to get an upgrade then, I'm tempted to hang onto this until there is a new release of the next batch of phones, I guess about September time. Do you think you will stick with Sony Z3/4 if its out?

Not sure if I will jump to it when it comes out for Three Ireland. I have a year and a bit before my next upgrade and am seriously thinking of going to the dark side :D

Because of Lollipop/Androids direction or do you just fancy a change?

August for me, but I'll probably hang on a bit too as September/October is generally when the next batch of phones are released.

Not sure about the Z4. I flash ROMs a lot and one of the things that sorta bugged me about the Z1 is that because like yourself, my bootloader isn't unlockable so I need to be tied to a PC if I want to flash a ROM. I'd like to get away from that if possible. You never know though, one of the other mods here works in the local Carphone Warehouse so if I see him for my upgrade as opposed to EE, I'll get an unbranded handset with an unlockable bootloader if I do decide to go with Sony.

I was really looking forward to the M9, but I want a bigger screen on my next phone ruling the S6 & Edge out too. The G4 looks nice, but I'll need to see what the dev community is like before making a decision.

I'm not impressed with Lollipop to be honest. I think Google have dropped the ball so to speak with it. A lot of issues with it. KitKat is more stable and simpler in my opinion.

However, Apple too have dropped the ball with iOS 8 in my opinion too. They fix one thing, break another. I have a Mac Book Pro at home and the same trend there, fix one thing, break another.

I've had Android ever since it first appeared. The Z1 is probably the first phone I have not rooted and put custom ROM on (actually tried with first Z1, something went wrong, couldn't be bothered with this one). Anyway, with the root, ROMs etc been there, done that, have the t-shirt :) got bored doing it after a while.

I just fancy a change. Might go iPhone on the next upgrade. Then again if the wind changes ;) I could stay with Android LOL

Yea I'm not too sure on hanging onto the Sony series purely for that reason needing a computer, and the flashing process seems much to complicated when compared to the like of Samsung. Was thinking the M9/G4 too (or whatever is next out about that time. I really want something with a decent camera so I guess I'll look at specs and reviews closer to the time of upgrade.
I can see why so many people like the iPhone, I don't think I could ever bring myself to get one though. They are so simple (even still compared to Lollipop update) and so restricted, I really don't understand why so many "tech geeks" still rave over them lol. But I think I would pick that over Windows Phone. Although I haven't had much practice with them they seem very restricted in their features and apps etc. Think I'll surely stick to trusty Android :)

Apparently the update is available for O2 & Vodafone in the UK. Meteor & Vodafone in Ireland have it too. Nothing on Three yet.

EE. I don't even see them listed in Xperifirm.

I probably won't bother. Like I say., I'm happy with KK and I won't have the device much longer. If it does update to Lollipop, it will be so I can give it to Mrs Presidente when I upgrade.

I'll probably have to flash something though; my speaker grille fell off over the weekend and I'm getting a terrible grating noise every time I receive a notification. I'll need to return back to stock so I can send it in for a warranty replacement/insurance claim.

Personally I would avoid updating your z1 like the plague. It's ruined my experience . My mobile phone is no longer a mobile device. seriously, if now want to get a proper days use out of it I have to make sure I'm near a power source...battery performance is now 50% of what it used to be. Whoever designed this is a moron. I can't even see any significant advatages over the previous system. This is a redesign for the sake of it.... It's that bad I'm even considering an iPhone.... I never thought I'd say that!!!!

I've not had a particularly great experience either. Try backing up using Sony's Backup and Restore App, factory resetting, then restoring. That cleared a few of the problems I was having.

It's still the worst OTA I've ever taken on any device though.

My Mrs updated her Z to Lollipop yesterday and so far her experience has been flawless.
