So I was using the fingerprint lock method and swiped a few times incorrectly when it went to an alternate password screen. When I set up the fingerprint it never asked for an alternate password so I never set one. I have tried last 4 of phone number, google password even tried the android device manager which would find my phone and make it ring but would not reset the password. Is there any way to get back into this phone without resetting it? Also what will happen when resetting if im rooted? Thanks.

Looks like your going to have to do a hard reset:
  1. Power off your device now completely.
  2. Boot the device in Recovery Mode now.
    – if you can’t boot recovery, then you can learn here.
  3. When you’re at the main Samsung Galaxy S5 Recovery Mode screen you should select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’.
  4. Confirm the process.
  5. Now you need to wait several minutes for the Galaxy S5 to be wiped.
