I recently got a s5, boost mobile variant and according to clean master, usually 85% of the ram is getting used, I see alot of apps that run in the background, anybody got a list of all the apps that can be deleted that run in the background?
Yeah.

The first app that you absolutely need to uninstall is Clean Master.

http://androidforums.com/threads/an...ned-security-tips-and-avoiding-malware.36936/

It's absolutely nothing but snake oil, it's flat out lying to you and it's going to do the opposite of everything it claims.

It's going to waste power, slow down your phone, and leave you addicted to more CM placebo products.

Used ram has ZERO to do with how fast your phone runs or how fast your battery drains.

Zero.

This isn't an iPhone, and Clean Master is selling you a bag of goods.

Most of what it identifies as running in the background?

It's not running at all. Pure fiction.

Check out the thread above.

It's a long read but probably everything that you really want to know is there.

And yes - bloatware is a bad thing - because it wastes CPU cycles.

The above thread will guide you through tool usage to decide easily for yourself what else to disable, reconfigure, or lose altogether - beginning with the snake oil ok.

On your Galaxy S5, you clean the main cache partition from recovery (that's the main Android cache, not the individual app caches) - search for -

Galaxy S5 clear cache recovery

If you haven't heard of that, use that search - or look for @ironass sticky thread here in our S5 forum called Lollipop for Dummies (great tips there including how to clear main cache).

Otherwise - once you have bloatware and rogue apps deleted, you may never want to do wholesale app cache cleaning again.

Thank you very much, I'll delete clean master and start cleaning cache from recovery, I was just worried that it showed my cpu was getting used up alot, good thing to know that clean master is all show.

Don't make cleaning cache files a regular thing. Cache files are there for a reason. Cache files rebuild anyway when the associated apps are used, so it's usually a waste of CPU cycles and power to clear caches.

But in this case clearing the partition cache one time to straighten out the damage Clean Master has done is probably a good idea. Another exception is after a major system update like Lollipop if the device is acting funky clearing all caches so they can rebuild sometimes straightens it out. Or if an app is struggling it might help to clear the cache for that app.

Otherwise, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
