Wireless charging, still waterproof, and an Otterbox defender Case?

The major reason I bought the S5 is that it is waterproof. Being an industrial concrete specialist, sometimes I have to scurry to do things in a downpour. For an added layer of security, I purchased an Otterbox Defender case. I've had my phone for a while now, and the phone itself has not one blemish! I am looking into wireless charging, because I worry about the USB cover breaking. Some people say use this Qi receiver, some people say to buy a wireless charging cover. Bottom line is, I cannot afford to let my phone lose it's IP67 rating. And, I'm the type I don't want scratches on the screen or shell. I regularly disassemble the case to remove dust from both the phone and case. Does anyone have any real-world advice?

Personally, I would install an internal Qi charging receiver.

Unfortunately, there is no way to compare the different offerings for quality...
I bought 3 of them before I found 1 that would actually charge my phone thru the Speck Military Grip case. It specifies in the listing that it will handle 8mm of dead air space and still charge the phone.

that is just about how thick my phone's case is, and it does work.
this listing might be out of date, but here is the one that finally worked.

well, I just looked and they don't say 8mm anymore.... just more useless garbage like most adverts.
but, it does work for me.

I have bought several things from this guy: by Fonesalesman
and so far, good as gold...

And remember, that your S5 is NOT waterproof, it is water resistant, there is a difference there...
If you wish to retain the IP67 rating, then you must use the wireless charging back, although I think that the slight bulge created with the use of internal QI receivers it still seals fairly well with the original back.

The Qi receivers that I have found, do not cause the OEM back to protrude.

The one I mentioned above is the thinnest of the 3.

The external protection case I bought is the real problem IF you are worried about the back staying "flat".
as for IP-67 and my phone, I have always thought of it as being "splash resistant" meaning I can get away with dousing it with water while getting a drink at the water fountain. Or, not being worried if it starts to rain while I am still on the phone and outside.

I would never, ever, do a dunk test. That is not being smart.

@larrykay, I was gonna argue, but I looked it up and you are right! I saw a Youtube video of a guy who dropped an S5 into the deep end of a pool for an hour and still worked, though.

@AZgl1500, I have looked at that card, other people have claimed that it did, in fact, make the case bulge. Can you verify? Did you shave the cover?
And too, I would never, EVER do a dunk test (on purpose). I did accidentally drop it in a ditch once, and it still works great....

My basic concern is I need it to stay "waterproof" (apparently meaning splash-proof). I would like to wirelessly charge so the USB cover stays sealed. To do this, I want a receiver that can fit behind the OEM cover without bulging, and I want a charge station that can charge through my Otterbox Defender case.

what did you end up using?
