State of Confusion (FL too)
Hi Everyone...

Been a loooooong time since I've been around, probably back a year or so...toward my GUIDE days!! Hope everyone is well!!

One of the reasons I have not been around much is a switch in work. Not that I don't like you guys....but that I didn't have as much free time to fool around with my phones. Other reason is that I have my 3rd son a few months ago so we are RATHER busy!!

I had a ONE M7 for my personal phone and when my business cell broke, I bought another M7 brand new for about $35 from Sprint running a special! What I did was to just "clone" and flash the backup from my personal phone to my rooted new M7. That way I was up and running IN MINUTES without having to change/adjust learn ANY new settings. I just didn't have time for otherwise with work.

Annnnnyway, I'm back again with a NEW phone....I upgraded from the M7 to the M9. Matter of fact my wife and I both got the M9.

So, I rooted my M7s (and my EVO and LTE before that!) myself but I'm using a Mac and was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a link, page or youtube video that provides rooting the M9 on a MAC?? I'm familiar but rusty (and tired lately!) so any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!!!

Scott

The Mac tips haven't changed, neither has HTCdev.com unlock (if preferred for the M9) -

TWRP and SuperSU have.

Refer to Captain Throwback's posts on what files to use and what order of operations.

Say which carrier you're on in case of gotchas.

That's about all I have, I don't have an M9.

Remember, there's no such thing as usb drivers for a Mac.

Anything that you can do from a Windows command window, you can do from an OS X Terminal, with very minor variations in command syntax - and usually no difference if you use my installation script for the Mini-SDK (I think that that's new since you last used it, I forgot about that).

Welcome back!

Welcome back!

Hey EarlyMon...thanks for the help and re-welcome :)

It's super-late so I only had time to unlock the Bootloader so I'm on my way.

Questions....

You referred to "Captain Throwback's posts"....where were those located?? I didn't see him post in your "How to get full root on a Mac" link in your above reply??

Also I THINK I read someone that I should install an SD Card prior to rooting. I'm outta practice with this too as my M7 had no card. I should purchase and install a card before rooting?? I don't recall whether the rooting process used the card at the get-go or if it didn't matter.

Thanks again!!
