Let's finish slaying the Dragon:

I've had multiple 64gb sd's in the Metro Stylo...pny, Samsung, adata, SanDisk to name some off the top of my head.
NONE formatted(by yours truly) before inserting-- ALL/EACH recognized immediately @ 62.xxGB(+NO need to reboot when switching between different cards with different contents), explorable & writeable WITHOUT any pop-up/prompt to format.

PS not implying that formatting is unnecessary, just emphasizing how seamless this process has now become...
I've duplicated similar results on my last three Samsung models.

Ok so i have a question that may sound noob but im confused. I have the boost version of the stylo and for the most part am pleased with the device (other than a couple bugs like the keyboard and screen not being responsive to touch) the one major problem i do have with it is the internal memory. I have an 8 gig card in it right now and am wondering wouldnt that at least expand my memory by 8g more? Or does it need to be 16,32,or 64g in order for it to really work. I cant install any new apps because it says my internal memory is almost full yet ive uninstalled practically all the apps i can and cleared all cache and junk files. I was under the impression that by installing an external sd card it would bump up my available memory by however big the external card is?

APPS to SD ain't what it used to be:
Not all of the app data gets stored on the external SD Card,if any of it at all.
So,the internal memory will get full eventually & limit the number of apps you can install.
If you root your device,there are likely mods out there that can "fix" the A2SD,this one comes to mind:

How it works:
Linking applications;
Link2SD uses a secondary partition on your SD card and uses it as another segment of internal storage. Link2SD moves apk files, dalvik-cache (.dex) files, lib files and internal data files into this partition, which the OS mounts on boot, and creates a symbolic link in the original location. This retains the file structure that the system expects but with the bulk of the data moved to the SD card.

Linking obb and external data;
On devices that have emulated SD card, obb and external data files are actually located on the internal storage, not on the external (real) SD card.
This method moves these folders into the first or the second partition of your external SD card (depending on your selection) and with the bind option of the mount command remounts the file hierarchy at external SD card while it is still available at the original location.
Linked apps are marked with "Linked -> SD card" in the app list.What you need:
Linking apps;
- root permission
- second partition on SD card

You should have two partitions on your SD card and both should be primary.
The first FAT partition is your standard SD card storage. The second partition is used for application files and can be ext2, ext3, ext4, f2fs or FAT.
You need to use a non-FAT file system (ext2, ext3, ext4 or f2fs) on your second partition in order to link app\'s private data files. Because the FAT file system (FAT16, FAT32 or exFAT) does not support UNIX file ownership or permissions and will cause a security breakdown of app's private files.
Link2SD does not create the second partition, you need to create it yourself. You can use any partition manager such as Minitool, Paragon, Easeus etc. on Windows, GParted on Linux, built in Disk Utility on Mac OS

Linking obb and external data;
- root permission

Second partition on SD card is optional for this feature, folders can be moved to the first or the second partition of the SD card.

Note:
When you connect your device to PC as mass storage, Android unmounts the first FAT partition but the second partition remains mounted so the apps linked to this partition are not affected and can be run without problems.
But the apps which their obb and external data files have been moved to the external storage don\'t work until the mass storage is disabled and the external storage is remounted on the device.

Link2SD also provides native app to SD (app2sd) feature of Android OS. It can move any non-protected user apps to SD card (force move), with batch moving capability.
That feature uses first partition (normal FAT) of the SD card, does not require a second partition.

Cache cleaner function clears all your cache and free up space with a single tap. Also cache cleaner widget displays total cache size and enables "one tap cache cleaning" without opening the app.

I installed link2sd and am finding it super confusing. I know i need to partition my card to ext3. But after i do that do i transfer the app data or link it?

I have a link2sd video tutorial for another phone on my site, but it might be the same for this phone. Check it out and see if it's of any help to you...

I have not installed link2sd in a while so I don't remember much and may not be able to help any further.

I have a 1024GB 1TB Class 10 Micro SD Flash Memory Card
and yes I formatted it before use works fine got it for $48.88 to my door
now it $ 278.88 on ebay

Hi -- I don't want to alarm you, but I am pretty sure that the highest capacity micro sd card made today for consumers is 200gb -- by Sandisk. If you have any capacity over that, it is most likely a fake. Did you test it with H2testw? That will tell you for sure whether or not your card is fake or not. It's a free download. It may take a long time to test, but it's worth the wait knowing you are not putting your valuable data on a fake card.

only 32
Probably because of the chipset, official testing when it was released. This Snapdrsgon 410 (32/64bit chip) was running 32bit Kitkat on the software side. Better safe then sorry.

Just like XP was 32bit, you could install, but not use all of 4GB ram installed. Now with Win7
(or higher) 64bit, you can address 192GB ram

just a guess, they never wasted money to re-certify the chipset with newer OSs and hardware limitations

We're talking about MICRO sd cards. Currently, the highest capacity of this particular format sold to consumers is a 200gb card produced by Sandisk. Anything else is just a fake or theoretical (in development) at this point.

k94536 said he bought a 1tb "micro" sd card. He must have bought it on eBay. eBay is flooded with fake flash memory of all types (thumb drives, sd cards, micro sd cards, etc). The card he bought is a fake and he should stop putting his valuable data on it or he'll be sorry.

You are absolutely correct, this may qualify ass the wrongest post ever on my part.
I am fortunate that besides being light upstairs my pockets are also light, I woulda been taken too.
Allow me to repost your warning to undo the damage to your post:

k94536...please heed Terry15 warning,

Combo bump and additional thanks(besides Terry) to Kolio / Gizmo / others who who did not reply despite the donkey post.

K... really curious about this card...

It's all good. :thumbsupdroid:
Reminds me of a conversation way back when,in the OG Huawei Ascend forum (OG Cricket/Metro PCS phone,when both were CDMA MVNO's).
A member had found a "deal" on a legit SD Card.
When it arrived,found it to be of the larger (non-Micro SD) variety.
No biggie,the member owned it,just a bit red-in-the-face,we've all been there,whether here,or,elsewhere.
Speaking from experience here,been down that road.
I mean C'mon,look at my avatar,permanently blushed.... :paperbagdroid: :oops: :D
