Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] [MOD][APP] SDCard Swapper Fx3

@sandix
I installed the AdvancedStock8 AS7v22 rom
http://androidforums.com/threads/vi...ncedstock8-as7v22-update-back-to-life.891808/

and it had SDcardswapper built in. I had a 64gb card already in the phone when I flashed the rom. Now I want to use a 16gb instead, so what steps do I need to take to replace the current card with the new one; without messing up the way sdcardswapper operates?
1. Turn the phone off.
2. Take the 64GB SD Card and copy the "/Android" folder to the 16GB SD Card
- Copy any other folders you need (Might include Game folders, music, DCIM/Pictures, etc)
3. Insert the 16GB SDCard into the phone and boot up, SDCardSwapper will take care of swapping the SD Cards with no issues.

If you do have issues, make sure that the SD Card is FAT32.

Hey Sandix...a question from a needy LG Tribute user...is there any way to "port" this over to the LG LS660? Your 11ext2internalsd works without a hitch. It helped rid this phone of duplicating files. Now that we have root, and TWRP recovery, we could use the memory/storage issue fixed. I know Kitkat "disabled" the external sd card, but there are fixes. I had to install just such a patch fix. Your SD Swap made a mediocre F3 into a great little machine! Just asking..

There is a script floating around th Fx3 forums that can swap the sdcards, you can modify it to match the partition table of your Tribute. I do not have the phone so I am not able to do.

But thank you for the kind words! Hope you can resolve your issue!

@Everyone

Why is this SDcardswapper better for the Optimus F3 than Link2SD and App2SD?

Link2SD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326
App2SD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/apps2sd-partition-sd-card-link-apps-to-t3122919

Both apps can not only symbolically link /data/data on internal storage, but also external data & obb folders to SD card. All these features seem to make SDcardswapper obsolete.
Features:
  • Link apk, odex, dex, lib, internal data of user as well as system apps to SD card.
  • Link external data and obb folders of apps and games to SD card
  • Move apps to SD card (force move if move 2 SD is not supported by the app)
  • Move apps to internal storage
  • Automatically link newly installed apps (optional)
  • Added init.d support for mount script
  • Added Folder mount feature
  • Added Folder link feature
The Optimus F3 has equal 1.24gb internal memory, and 1.24 external memory, so why swap those? The only way you gain more internal space is to buy an SD card to use this MOD with, or by creating a 2nd partition to symbolically link files to.

After reading this entire thread, and the App2External_SD thread I still cant figure out what the benefit is to using your SDcardswapper MOD. It seems everyone is using it in conjunction with Link2SD, App2SD, and 11extsd2internalsd. Why not just use Link2SD or App2SD by themselves?

While scouring the sister thread to this one:
[MOD]App2External_SD (Fixed Duplicate files)
http://androidforums.com/threads/mod-app2external_sd-fixed-duplicate-files.801368/
I found this reply which I feel explains why everyone is using this MOD it in conjunction (SDswapper, Link2SD, and 11extsd2internalsd)
To summarize, this mod (11extsd2internalsd) only allows what normally gets placed on the /sdcard to be placed on the REAL external SD card (Google fumbled this by having Android default to treating the /sdcard as internal in their Nexus devices), and most apps have assumed the same ever since.

Normal apps still get installed in /data/app, which is part of internal storage (~1.2 GB limit on LG F3). Apps that use large amounts of data usually put it in another path (most games). You'll still run out of internal space if installing hundreds of apps.

link2sd is still needed to link /cache and maybe some other paths that some apps use to store large amounts of data. Unless someone modifies this to also link /cache to SDcard, but /cache normally is assumed to be using ext2 type filesystem, instead of FAT32 and /cache has to have fast performance, which may cause performance or data corruption issues.

So from what Ive found here and in the sister thread, Im going to assume the following.

You can use SDswapper to download an app when you are low on internal storage, which Google play wouldnt let you do if you had 100mb or less left on your internal storage. Then, once its downloaded you can use Link2SD or App2SD to link /cache and maybe some other paths that some apps use to store large amounts of data to your second partition. And the 11extsd2internalsd from androidguy1991 to make sure that android doesn't make any duplicate files.

Does this sound about right? Id appreciate it if anyone could let me know if how I see these MODs working together is correct.

SdCard Swapper only does what it says on the tin: Swaps the External SD Card to be the internal one for AppData NOT APK's from google play.

So say you wanted to download GTA San Andreas - Good luck on just the phone memory, but with SD Card swapper it will allow you to download it because the GTA SA obb data is stored on INTERNAL SDCard (Which is why the Swap needs to happen so the phone thinks the external sdcard is the internal one) This will NOT allow you to install applications if Google Play is telling you there is not enough space. That is not what this app does.
