Root Phone is rooted BUT...

Hello!

First, I want to thank you all for your time, knowledge and help. Your forums, moderators, contributors and members have kept me loyal to Android for going on 4 phones now... I'm grateful that you all know so much because I, most certainly, do not!

Coming from an LG Optimus F3 (which I loved more than anyone should probably ever love their phone- I miss it terribly o_O), I've rooted my Tribute (running Kitkat 4.4.2) using the same method. I have SU, installed Link2SD, partitioned my SD card and damned if, after all of that, I still am not able to store my apps on my SD card. Due to the storage modification Android devs made to the Kitkat OS (which I didn't learn about until after I rooted, partitioned, etc.), the card isn't recognized. The phone knows it's there, but it's basically just for S & G, if you know what I'm saying.

I've attempted to use NetApp SD Fix, among many others claiming to overwrite the system permissions so that apps can write to the external card, but nothing has worked. Even though every single one of them says they have successfully reconfigured the permissions file, my SD is empty and my phone is fast approaching it's maximum storage capacity.

I can't move the apps from the file manager either, as someone suggested because when I access it, none of my apps show up in there. What is already in the FM (music, photos, etc.) won't allow me to move it to the external card- there is simply no option for doing so.

Now, finally, my question: can anybody tell me (in very dumbed down layperson speak) how I can utilize my SD card through Link2SD -OR- do I need to do something different to be able to use it?

If not, is there a way to demote my OS to Jellybean, which is what my much-loved F3 was running? If that's possible, what features would I lose from this OS?

Please be gentle... I'm not as swift at this as all of you are and I don't know most of the language associated with it. I'm a visual learner and have rooted my last three phones with your help, so I'm not a lost cause. Just put it in simple terms and I'll get it.

Any information that anyone can provide would be very much appreciated by both my Tribute and me. My phone is tired of being threatened with meeting the heel of shoe every day! :p

i to have encountered the same problems. link2sd is not very useful to us nor are the various sd patch apps it would appear. im going to look at a few of the system files and see if i can make my own edits. but no guarantees any of it will lead anywhere. had success on htc one v doing a few edits to move apps to actual sdcard but that was not a kit kat issue rather a rom issue.

Link2sd works awesome for me! I used the same fix apk. You stated, I rebooted my phone & set my downloads to save to my external sdcard & voila problem solved, for me anyway! I'd like to try & help you! Here's a screenshot of my apks. & space etc so you can see using link2sd does work excellently!

So, I'm not crazy, then! I thought I must be doing something dreadfully wrong... either way, successful or not, I'd like to hear about your progress with the edits you're attempting. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions; very much appreciated!

Hi, there! I appreciate your response. How did you set your apps/downloads to save to the SD card? I can't get it to do anything- when I try, Link2SD says that I can't move the file because my external storage is emulated from the internal storage. I can't link them either... but maybe I didn't have to go through partitioning for this OS. Maybe I should have left the SD card alone? Did you partition yours or just insert it as it came out of it's package?

I partitioned my micro SD by using aparted its a partitioning apk. & you make 2 partitions, 1 fat32 & the other ext4, the ext4 partition is the one you use for link2sd to link your apks. To your external sdcard! Have you done all that yet because if you haven't it won't work! Once you've successfully partitioned your card with aparted, you should install link2sd & it should ask for superuser rights, click grant, than it should ask which partition you want to use, tick ext4 & reboot, you should be able to link apks. To your external sdcard after that.

If you are running ZV5, you can try this. Flash the fix in recovery and reboot. If you don't get the desired result, flash the unfix in recovery to revert :)

Hey VikingRebel..I'm also a former F3 user myself. I rooted using the same method, installed TWRP, and flashed SuperR's Deodexed Stock ROM. I debloated my own dislikes, then I installed the same 11extsd2internalsd mod that's posted in the F3 forum here. Follow the directions, then reboot. Then I installed Kit Kat SD Fix from Google play, then reboot again. Then install Links2SD. Keep the install settings to AUTO. I had to reboot again because my 16GB class 10 SD is already partitioned, 10GB primary, and 6GB ext4. After reboot, I went to SETTINGS>Apps>Downloaded and I was able to move apps to my SD card. I have also "linked" apps that wouldn't move natively. Now I enjoy lots of storage!

Thanks for all the advice in this thread. I recently got a new Tribute and just swapped the card over from my F3 (yes I had one too) and rooted it, since it was already partitioned. It seemed to work fine, and link2sd works, although I will also try the SD FIX here as well. Now I'm trying to do the same for my daughter's Tribute, so I'll try what's listed here as well. However, I need to partition the card and I can't find the instruction I used for my card (I think I read that aparted doesn't work anymore?) - I can't remember how much space each partition is supposed to get (Minimums etc)?
