So I did the update last night for the video calling thing, and woke up this morning to another update. I should of seen what it was about before installing, but does anyone know? It's a 69mb update and said fix stability issues and other crap(phone was stable already). Hope it doesn't affect my amazing battery life. 2 days on one charge is awesome.

Have everything turned off basically(wifi when not in use, 4g when not in use, no auto brightness, synch off, no bluetooth and such like that. Same settings I used on all my droids and easily get 2 days use including youtube, Instagram, watching videos and all. It's crazy because I was expecting crap battery like I read on everyones reviews, but my battery life is amazing

This begs to ask (to each their own,no judgement zone here) :):
Why bother having a smartphone if you're not gonna use at least some of its features?

What is the point of leaving features on I am not using at the moment? Smarter to turn them off. Leave my 4g and have it use my data? Nope. Leave wifi on when I am not using it why? Leave bluetooth on when I don't evem have one? I think I am the smart one in this situation haha

I work with a guy who turns his "G's" off all the time. He thought I was an arrogant dipshit for leaving my "G's" (mobile data) on all the time. He was paying for 5GB of data and was using like 20MB a month.

*edit for spelling
Smart man. Ppl don't realize that even if it's on and your not using your 4g, it is still constantly searching for a signal and using up your data in the process. Not to mention draining your battery. I've been into deoid phones since the OG droid 1st came out. I know these things like the back of my hand. Every feature I turn off makes a huge diff in your battery life and also performance. Even tho only using 20mb abd paying for 5gb, you never know when youll need gps or anything else that uses your data significantly, so better to have it there

Paying for 5GB and using 20MB is not a smart move.
As I mentioned, it is better to have extra when you need it there.. Do you have any idea how fast you can go through 20mb. 1 app download that is 20mb(which is a squat size program) will kill 20mb. Watching a 3min vid on youtube will kill 20mbs. A few mins of navigation will kill 20mbs. May be dumb to you, but to anyone with some common sense would have a lil extra there at all times. Do what you like, but I'm not here to argue what features I use or don't use if I am the one paying it ;)

I've found leaving most everything on doesn't have the same detrimental battery drain effect as say, phones from two or more years ago.
But,to each their own,it's Android after all, where choices reign supreme.

It's a good read, seeing how others actually use their phones & the differences run the gamut.

I've had a Samsung S4 running for eight days on one charge. It's just been sat on the desk doing absolutely nothing, some things were on, like it was connected to the WiFi and had a SIM in it. In fact I forgot it was even on, and only realised when it started beeping low-battery...LOL.

I'm not trying to be a smartass but, yes, I do know what 20MB of data is. The point I am making is that my coworker is paying somewhere around $120 a month for a phone plan and he is using 0.4% of his data. That is not "having a lil extra" when you need it nor is it using common sense.

Well ****, for 120 a month I agree with you lol. Im on that fam plan and paying $30 plus 30 with this note 5, and have 10gb. Shit, before the fam plan I had the normal plan on metro with like 5gb for 50$. What does he have, like verizon? Thats nuts

You nailed it, Verizon. When I mentioned it originally I should have explained that part. He is dumping money into the trash and getting almost no benefit from having a smart phone at all. I tried to explain this in a very gentle way and he seemed to think that I was wasteful with my data.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I feel you. Idk why people act like verizon is the greatest thing on earth. I was with them when the 1st OG droid came out. Fam switched to metro and was with them for 4years with 0 problems(and I stay in the middle of nowhere desert), and now with tmobile with no signal problems. My coworker is with verizon and says he pays like $400 a month with 4 lines and they somehow always go over the data. Told him he should check out tmobile, save him tons. Like you said diff strokes for diff folks, but I'd never be comfortable knowing I pay a cellphone bill thats more than a benz car payment haha
