Root LG Tribute Stock ZV5 Deodexed & Unmodified [4.4.2]

the email app has dissapeared with the debloated rom and you can't set any new wallpapers for the lock screen other than the stock ones when you try it says Unfortunately ,lock screen settings has stopped.
You've got something else wrong then. Do you have a gallery app installed? (Most likely the issue). I'm using this ROM and after some tweaking, it runs great!!

can some one tell me how to remove apps through emulator what are the terms?
Probably easier to "get rid of" the app from inside Android. Your rooted, so use Titanium Backup or something like it. If you do decide to still use the terminal emulator, make sure of 2 things.

  1. You make a backup before changing anything.
  2. You input any terminal commands exactly as given for the task at hand.

I installed the debloated rom and it seems to work fine so far. Thanks @HasH_BrowN for his post about how to get data to start working.

I have one question. How can I get the system update notification not to show up? I know I'm going to accidentally click install.
Your welcome

  1. Open up System Settings>Apps>
  2. Go to All Tab
  3. Scroll down to Google Play Services
  4. Uncheck notifications

I got the zv6 update notice this morning in a pushed text from Virgin Mobile. I'm running this Deodexed rom. I know I'll have to return to stock, but I don't want to give up my customizations that are only possible with a deodex rom. Is there going to be a deodex zv6 rom soon?
To be truthful, if you edited your build.prop you have made the stagefright fix. I dont really see the extra "things" helping anything. Seems like Virgin trying to regain control of the phones. You'll lose root and recovery plus it'll bootloop, all easy fixes. You can also edit the data settings in a couple of spots to help better connectivity, then do the Adreno mod (there is even a zip file) posted for graphics performance.
My PC has power issues, but you can try to deodex it. Cant find the guide right, but its on XDA.

I am happy to build a ZV6 rom if someone uploads the files. I do not own this device so I am not able to pull the files myself.

Hash_Brown...I haven't tried the Adreno mod. Got my build prop tweaked, Xposed Framework w/ G3 Tweakbox working, and enas sdcard fix flashed. My baby's happily keeping about 1.02gb memory. I think I let this update slide by! Shame they won't give us Lollipop. My RCA Pro II 10" has 5.0.2 and it's good, but not rooted yet. Can't seem to hack it just yet. Patience is a virtue with these things I suppose!

Enabling tethering through the workaround we had is broken on zv6 unless the app that was listed was changed to do less by the author. Anyone got any ideas?
Lol, don't update?!?!
JK
We seem to be resourceful folk, we'll nip this one in the bud too.
BTW, which app are you referring to? (My mind is drawing a blank)

First off, thanks for your work, SuperR, it's greatly appreciated. I just screwed up my phone a few days ago trying to deal with the update not having room to install and making--mistakes--with TB (integrate into rom doesn't seem to work very well). I've reflashed it but I'm still having some issues with Maps and Chrome which I need.

So I'm going to have to do it again anyway. From what I understand, you need the Nandroid (TWRP) backups from a stock ZV6 Tribute. I want the StageFright fix, and I'm interested in a trimmed rom as well.

So if I flash the stock ZV5 rom, replace TWRP with the stock ZV5 recovery, and allow everything to update and the OTA to go through, that will leave me with a stock ZV6 phone, correct? Then if I root it again and flash TWRP and backup I can give you the files you need, correct?

To do this however I think I need to connect my Google account, and I don't want to send any of that stuff out. Can I just adb install the update, then SuperSU and Flashify to put TWRP on without updating anything via the Play store?

e: Or is the update package that was linked by HasH_BrowN sufficient anyway? I copied it from my phone last night and it's identical.

Yes the update I posted is the same.

This is probably a fix virgin mobile requested specifically. Because it effects their ability to charge us for tethering.
This is what I thought. Just a way for them to reaquire control over our phone.

I had the same problems updating to zv6. All the GAPPS started FCing. (force closing). I tried to fix it by clearing the dalvik & cache using TWRP, after I rerooted. Then I tried flashing a signed GAPPS package for 4.4.2. Fixed all but Play Store & Maps. That's when I decided to wipe & reflash Deodex V2 rom with Minimal GAPPS. Everything back in order! Staying with DeodexV2 zv5 rom for now!

Privately..I'm still hoping for the CM12 camera bug to get fixed! I'd run that but I need my camera. I have the world's most beautiful grandkids. It's required equipment!

I should have mentioned that if your running the deodexed rom, you will have compatibility issues with the update. In other words the update needs to be deodexed.

I managed to debloat and deodex my own stock zv6, only it won't install until I fix the update script and binaries. (Going to grab the ones from our zv5.) @SuperR Where did you get those from?; the binaries I mean. I've seen so many flashable zip "guides", but no one ever says how to get the binary for your device, just that it needs to be "found". And is there anything special I need to do in order for the deodexed apps to work once installed? I've only ever used dsixda's kitchen, so I'm under the impression it needs to be in "Rom" form, not just a zip to replace all the apps.

Pull the binary from ANY newer zip for our device. Use notepad++ on PC or Droidedit on Android to edit your updater-script. Set encoding to ASCII.

I'd give you more support, but scripting is somewhat new for me.

I always use notepad++. I deodexed zv6 and finally got it to install but I get hit with an LG security error screen that bootloops. I checked my scripts, they're perfect. Tried the binary from the zv5 still the security error, and tried binary from zv6, same issue. I think something may have been patched to prevent a custom Rom from being installed. I know twrp is a bumped image, so I'm wondering if we need an oem unlock... I sure hope not. No boot.img we have will work either. I'm still digging into it, but I'm coming up empty handed right now.

Side note; I am stuck using Windows 7 to do all of this, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that might be the issue.
