Hi,
I bought my z1 second hand. It was fine but on a couple of occasions I dropped it and had terrible trouble getting it to come back on, all the reset stuff didn't work and ofcourse you can't open the back and pull the battery.

Anyway yesterday this happened again and no matter what I did it wouldn't come back on, so I decided to prise the back open and see what was going on. Essentially I discovered a small white plug attached to the battery didn't fully connect to the pcb so I plugged it back in making sure everything was tight and hey presto normal service was resumed.

Phone came back on and immediately was charging quicker and running better so all good. Until I played a video file, no sound, until somebody called me, no sound, until my alarm didn't go off! No sound!!!!

I thought in playing about with it open I must have some how unplugged the speaker but then I made a call to a friend and they could hear me and I could hear them just fine. So the hardware of the mic and speaker are fine but for some reason the system isn't playing any sound.

I tried to boot it in safe mode and the same issue was happening.

Is this something anyone has ever heard of? Is their a setting in Android software that would switch this off? I've checked the obvious sound volume settings. I should add that the volume down button no longer seems to do anything!

Any help appreciated!

You must've nudged/shorted something in one of the drops or when you were taking it apart then.

I'm not aware of any option/feature that would stop sound going to the speaker either. :(

Not much you can do yourself I'm afraid, are there any mobile repair places near you? Your best bet is one of those, or Sony themselves (although Sony would probably charge a fortune).
