Root Installing CM11/CM12/PAC on the L90 D415

This phone comes with the bootloader unlocked out of the box. All that needs to be done is install a recovery and flash the rom of your choice.

This is rather confusing.
This guide says that the bootloader can be unlocked.

I went ahead and followed your guide DevoutDev and rebooted into recovery. Did a wipe and got an error wiping something, but it didn't seem very important as the wipe was marked successful. Went ahead and flashed the latest CM12.1 nightly by Quarx, that you had linked int this thread. It flashed successfully. I rebooted system and the device is stuck on the LG screen. Can't boot into recovery, or LG download mode. Any tips? The device shows in device manager, but I can't set ti to use the ADB driver.

UPDATE: I managed to get the driver working.
But the device is unauthorized. I get the following message:
error: device unauthorized. This adbd's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set; tey 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.

In that thread, towards the latter pages, everyone does say that the phone comes with an unlocked bootloader.
Reading all these replies has me a little nervous. Let me just ask to get assurance;
Is it safe to use Flashify and flash TWRP, then flash CM12? I'm on stock Lollipop.
Of course, I believe that the answer will be yes, but I'd like some assurance from someone with more experience than me (which is not at all difficult to achieve).
