Help How to limit headphone volume

I have a Nook Tablet running CyanogenMod 11 and I've been having an issue where the volume is able to get EXTREMELY loud, wayyy louder than my iPod or PC. I've tried several apps on Google Play, but none of them have worked properly. One didn't work at all and the other limited both internal speaker and headphone volume.
All I want is to limit only the headphone volume to around 25% or so.

Any help would be appreciated.

I looked around the Google Play Store a bit & nothing (at 1st glance) pops out,someting akin to the display brightness attenuation apps available (for root users).
Best thing I can think of ATM is to use an equalizer app to help have a muting effect of sorts,until you find a more precise solution.
