Gottit. Oh, two last (honest!!!) questions: what gets turned off to ensure VZW doesn't try to OTA the phone (I know this rascal is at or past EOL, but with VZW ya never know...) and is there anything on the horizon, for 4.4.2, to cope with Stagefright? Probably question is answered in the bloatware list. NTL, can't hurt to ask. Right? (OHHH! That's a third final question [/face palm]).

No fix yet, turn off auto retrieve mms in active messenger app/ Hangouts
