So if not Note 5. What phone?

It's a good way to go,especially if you don't find yourself using many of the mfgs custom U/I tweaks/features.
I have to admit,I'm tempted, but,I'm good for now, both my keeper phones are still new to me (less than two months).
It's a bit on the big side,I'd have to get an up-close feel-in-hand before deciding/ordering.
Only thing I don't like is, the size of the phone overall is as big as the iPhone 6 plus, as far as height.

I discovered recently that One Note identifies writing on the Note series, at least. I just haven't tried on a device that would use regular capacitive Stylus. That is one thing I would miss, moving away from the s-pen. The added functionalities that I have gotten used to for 3 years with the Note 2 and 3 combined, have really aided in my productivity. That said, I could go without multi-window on my phone, as well as pop-ups. As time went by, I realized how much I don't use that on my phone as compared to my tablets.

The biggest draw I have to the Nexus 6p is the microSD and potential project fi use. Even though it is in the early stages and the initial feedback wasn't great, I could eventually see it proving to be the best option for me.

I'd definitely take a wait & see approach,at least for the 1st couple of weeks the phone is actually in users hands.Find out if some of the functionality you may miss could be restored via mods/root apps/etc...
That,& see if the availability type changes.
Seems it's gonna be a Google Store only item,at least for now.
If you're cool with what you have,I'd wait & see if others will eventually sell it & possibly get a better price &/or carrier financing/subsidized price with contract.

Looks like I won't be getting one now...LOL

Yeah,no SD Card slot or QI Charging. While it has the NOTE5 beat in available storage,I'm fine w/the NOTE5 & 64GB on-board,well,as much as one can be w/o the SD Card slot.
While Marshmallow has support for SD Cards,I believe this was included for Android One & devices w/less than flagship spec'd internals/etc.....
Which that is cool, maybe not for the Nexus crowd, but,at least there are similarly pure Android devices already available w/expandable storage.

Not sure how tall the Priv is, in comparison to other flagships, but I can't imagine that it's any taller than other flagships with 5.5-5.7 inch screens. I'll likely pick one up, as it'll make a good backup device, as well as prove very useful at home as a primary entertainment remote w/ the Harmony hubs and bluetooth connected handset (for home phone). This thing is crazy thin for a sliding qwerty.

You usually charge don't while watching a video or moving files around. If you do you can use Wireless charging. I found this great OTG setup, Dash micro. It's very small and accepts a micro SD card

That might be for some people, but I'm typically charging whenever I am moving files around, but definitely plugged in watching videos (especially to keep battery life up, when I have to get up and go). I know there's a large group of people that rely on being able to charge and view/listen to content, while on the go, on their daily commute (e.g. riding subway/train/bus/etc.). Wireless charging doesn't work for on the go situations. And even then, the only wireless chargers that allow for propping up the phone to actually view videos are the iTian or Tylt Vu chargers, which act as a stand that'll allow charging in portrait or landscape. And, typically, when a device is working very hard, Qi wireless charging doesn't actually charge the phone while viewing/listening to media, to prevent the device from overheating.

With the new quick charge wireless charging, the Samsung charger is a flat wireless charger that isn't propped up, so at that point, it becomes difficult to actually view content while charging.

True, but the Spigen one is a stand and works. I didn't think about on the go.

Don't get me wrong, I do miss the SD card and replaceable battery. Kinda short sided for a flag ship phone.

Does the Spigen stand plug via microUSB or AC? I'm pretty sure it's the same exact design as the iTian and Tylt Vu I mentioned, which were out way before the Spigen one.

It's the exact same charger as the Itian, just rebranded for Spigen.
That's what I figured. Now, if the manufacturer were smart, they would change it to a micro USB connector, instead of AC, and that would completely change things for people. It opens up the possibility of using with OTG battery chargers, without needing an AC attachment.

I like everything about the v10 except for the physical dimensions, so I likely will pass, but still definitely a worthy competitor to the note 5 or nexus 6p

Looks nice.HTC's got a presser coming up later this month, will weigh both before making any kind of Jump.
This one has a lot of boxes checked, seems QI Charging is not on-board,can live w/that w/removable battery. If I-R Blaster is on-board,it's definitely gonna get serious consideration from me....

Isn't that just the A9 mid-range phone that's been leaked?

I was so dissapointed with the Note 5 that I was going to get the Note 4 instead but after seeing the LG V10 I might just go for that instead, few more phablets coming out in the near future so will hold on for a bit

As of right now, I'm just waiting on the physical dimensions of the Blackberry Priv. That device is in the lead for me, as far as my upgrade choice (although, I'm likely going full retail rather than subsidized). What's puzzling about the V10 to me is that, LG managed to fit a 5.5 inch screen in such a small form factor with the G3, then made the phone a little bigger with the G4 (more-so in height), but then they go up by .2 inch and all of a sudden, the physical dimensions get significantly taller? It's just strange to me that there's such a dramatic jump betweeen the two of their flagships. Phone arena's size comparison can give you a good idea. They don't have the v10 up yet, but if you choose the Nexus 6p, that device is very close in dimensions. The Note 5 kills the V10 w/ dimensions. If there's anything that'll make me still consider LG, it's if they make a surprise announcement of the G4 Pro and the device dimensions are closer to the Note 5 or even better, the G4. That would be great.

-EDIT- I'm just realizing that the secondary display is why the V10 is so tall. So, I guess that makes it more understandable. I'd still prefer a phone closer in dimensions to the g4, but sporting a 5.7 screen. That would be awesome. If that secondary display was actually usable on video content viewing, full screen, or browsing, then maybe I'd consider the V10. Sprint wasn't mentioned as one of the carriers that'll have the V10 available, so I guess I wouldn't have the option anyway.

Now, if they had made the V10 a 5.9 inch screen period, I think that would've opened a lot of eyes and people would jump at the chance to have a phone similar in dimensions as the Nexus 6p or iPhone 6S+, but sporting close to a 6 inch screen like the Nexus 6 or Original LG G Flex. That would've been awesome as well.

What a stupid phone the v10 is lol. Not sure who it's even marketed towards with dual selfie cameras. Great, no more need for my selfie stick! :/

Lg's software is already a mess, and I'm sure that second screen won't make it any easier to receive timely updates (I'm on Verizon so it's not like it would've mattered I guess.) The verge said it will be priced like the iPhone 6s as well, which no way I would pay that for a phone with a budget processor. What a disappointing year it's been for Android phones!

I think the V10 would've had more appeal for me, had they scrapped the additional display completely and just made it a 5.9 inch phone. Then, the physical dimensions become much more justified, IMO. That basically would've made them offer a phone sporting close to a 6 inch screen, in a form factor that's so close to the Nexus 6p and iPhone 6s. To me, that would've been a must buy.

Although, since Sprint doesn't seem to be picking it up, it's a moot point.

I agree with you there. I wish they would've introduced this as a sister phone to a regular 5.9" phone ala the note and note edge. I actually love the build of this phone (there's a drop test video where the guy basically had to throw it straight up in the air to finally get the screen to crack.) It's also got expandable memory, a removable battery AND a 64gb base model.
Seems like LG really avoided the snapdragon 810 this year and they just didn't have many other options in the processor department. It would've been really interesting if they could've gotten their hands on the exynos chip from the note 5 though.

Even with the 808,I would have picked up a 5.9 inch phone over the 2nd screen gimmick. That said, still moot cuz Sprint isn't buying it, so all my attention will be in picking up a blackberry priv, even if for a short time.

Replying to my own post:

I've looked at it, too expensive, 5088 yuan CNY for 32GB version, that's just under $800 USD. All phones are sold unlocked and there's no subsidized carrier contracts available.

So I'm actually seriously considering Oppo R7 Plus next month, 3299 yuan CNY, also 32GB, however it also takes an SD! 32GB internal alone wouldn't be enough, given I'm currently using 16GB internal plus 64GB SD.

And that's what I did in then end, very happy with it! :) The large capacity 4100mAh battery is certainly noticeable, goes for much longer than my Find 7a does. The fact it's sealed as not really a problem, as on average I seem to be keeping phones on average for a year at the moment, but replacements are quite easy anyway, via Oppo service.

I'm just going to hang onto my Note 3 for a while more, and see how things play out. Lately it feels a lot like I gained a new lease on my Note 3's life, after I found and installed MoboClean to take back control of what apps can access on my system. Once I used it to cut all apps off from auto-starting, and being able to run in the background, except for the ones I wanted to allow, I immediately started getting battery life performance that is very close to what it had been when the battery was new. It's been a night and day difference. .

Apologies for dredging up an old post. I'm adopting a wait and see approach also, for the same reasons oft repeated.
I gave my Note 3 a new lease of life as well, by taking it apart and giving it a clean with alcohol and a cotton tip and ever so gently levering the contact springs for the GPS pad ,(I was having GPS issues - fixed it too!).
Read about MoboClean and tried it. It caused havoc with some reinstals, lost settings and stuff and I don't detect any improvement in battery life at this stage. How is it running for you now? Anyone else tried it?
How do you manually turn off run in background permissions?
