Received my Note 5 / Owners thread

I'm planning on getting a white N5 tomorrow at my local AT&T store. I'm certain that it's the phone I want this year but as the time draws near I find myself liking my N4 even more.
A few things to note (pun intended)...the Note 5 does not have an IR blaster, sd card or removable battery. SD card and removable battery don't matter to me but the lack of an IR blaster was a total surprise (after the fact) and now I cannot control my TVs. Not a happy camper right now.

I have had my N5 for a couple of days now and I made the switch from an HTC One m7 and this is a steep learning curve but this phone is pretty amazing.I figured I would give the s-pen a try and see if I like it or not and so far I havent had much use for it but it works well and its definitely convenient when needed.

This is my first android, got it yesterday. SO far I really like it! Been back and forth with iPhone and blackberry for years. Anyway, I've been up late last night and now early this morning, but am I stupid? I've googled and searched and I must be an idiot but- I've connected my Note to my mac and...nothing...I have no idea how to transfer my music or any pics- Blackberry would just show up as a storage, so I'm suuuppperrrrrrr newbie right now. Is there a simple step I'm missing?

I've had my Note 5 on AT&T for about a month now. I've read about the scheduled restart feature (Settings>Personal>Backup and reset>Auto Restart) and really want to be able to use it. It simply is not there. Am I missing something? Is this feature not supported by AT&T? Thanks in advance.
This is a possibility,VZW & AT&T have a habit of pulling/hiding/not providing features available to just about every other variant of the same phone.
Drop by a Best Buy/Sprint/T-Mobile store & compare...................

I picked up my Note 5 yesterday morning. I took a real hard look at what was out there. My hubby was taking my LG G4 (great phone) but I just wasn't sure about these new Samsung's. Before i could pull the trigger on this I needed to go back and review it all. Yes, the price is really to high in my opinion but I've had a Note 3 and 4 so I knew the features would be perfect for me. I went back to the store and held it in my hand (not just looking at it) and somehow my previous opinion on its build changed right then. It felt very premium and excellent in my hand. I also thought about the whole battery/SD card issue but my LG G4 currently has 34GB internal and a 32GB SD card so it would be pretty much the same so long as I wasn't planning on needing more room (I wasn't). So, since this seems to be the way it is, I just made up my mind to go ahead and get it. So far I have no complaints and no regrets. The phone is beautiful and I think I can also say the call quality is better than the G4. Now the G4 has LOUD speakers and I don't think the Note is as loud however it seems to be sufficient for my needs. I'm not prepared as yet to comment on the battery life. To soon. What I can say is that the fingerprint scanner is very good. THAT surprised me given how bad it's been in the past. I thought the iPhone 6 was the only one who did it right. I stand corrected. A real bonus for me. I do not miss or care about the SD card or removable battery at this point. I realize for some, that will be an issue given how they use their phone. I'll admit when I first seen this phone when it came out,I did not have a good first impression of it. I'm glad I went back and took another look at it because right now, I am absolutely loving this Note 5. If you can live without the SD Card and removable battery, then give it another look. Also, plenty of people complained about the IR Blaster being removed but again, this wasn't high on my list of needed features. That's what remotes are for. Anyway, I am SO glad I decided to get it. Very Happy.

Full retail price is quite high, but on VZW and Sprint you can get great deals through Costco.com.

VZW has a rebate offer right now: Note 5 32 GB regular price: $299.99 - $55 2-year agreement discount, - $45 mail in rebate brings the total down to $199.99 vs. $29/month for 24 months ($696 total). Note 5 64 GB regular price: $399.99. Discount and rebate brings it down to 299.99 vs. $33.17/month for 24 months ($796.08 total).

Sprint: Note 5 32 GB: $249.99 vs. 30.79/mo for 24 months ($738.96 total); 64 GB: 349.99 vs. 34.96/mo for 24 months (total 839.04!).

Can someone please tell me if there are unread counts on the email and msg apps. Thanks.:p

Yes,on both Stock Samsung E-Mail & Messaging applications, you get the # of unread messages superimposed on the icon:
Seems this works on the Stock Samsung Touch-Wiz Launcher,3rd party launchers will need other solutions:

I just picked up a White 64 Gig Note 5 yesterday. I had a Note 4 and loved it, but suddenly the battery wouldnt charge.. So upgrade it was. I thought about the S6, I have had an s3, S4, S4 active, S5, Note 4. After having the larger Note, I couldnt go back to the S phones. So far I havent had much time to play around with it but I love it.

Has anyone decided to return their Note 5 for something else? I got the note 5 and love it (been a note guy since the 1st note), but I'm starting to think about exchanging it for the S7 edge. Its not soo much the lack of removable battery but the SD Card expansion is a little disappointing. Although I don't use the S-Pen too much, I probably will miss just having that option if I exchanged it.

ahhhh....dilemma's.

Just dropped by to say Adieu:
I traded-in my Note5 & went back into a Note4.
The loss of features (I-R Blaster/Removable Battery/SD Card Slot) are the reason,I missed the I-R Blaster & Removable Battery most, the 64 GB were actually enough storage for my use, but,it's always nice to have the option to expand local storage via SD Card.

I'll probably see some of ya in the Note6 forum down the road, but,I'm definitely not trading in the Note4 to get it.

:thumbsupdroid: PEACE ! :thumbsupdroid:
