I really need to root my galaxy s4 GT-I9500 becase I got a virus that constatntly shows ads on home screen. I clicked on "App Info" from a notification bar ad and it displayed a system app called "LiveWallpaper". It has no icon, nothing. But I'm quite sure it's the virus. I tried disabling, data erasing, anything but no use. I need to root the phone and delete the app.

I also tried to flash another firmware I downloaded but I couldnt flash it via download mode. My PC cant do any operations on the phone. Then I tried lots of rooting methods, with or without pc, but none of them worked. I can't write all the stuff I tried because I don't remember all of them.

By the way my s4 is about 3 years old. No warranty.

Can anyone please help ? I don't want to buy a new phone this one still works perfect except this...

PS: This is my first thread sorry if in wrong category

I call B.S. Just saying. But, I would go into your apps, settings》Application manager》 look through all the apps there. Find the app that is giving you issues and uninstall it or disable it.
I have had an android basically since they came out and never had a virus and never had any malware or adware apps survive a factory reset, and I've never seen an ad on boot. Find your malicious app, and uninstall it.

Also, if the ad is showing up in your notification window, long press on it, it should say the apps name and have an ! Out beside it, press on it and it will also take you to your app manager where you can uninstall it.

you have root correct? Download root uninstaller or what not, and see if you can find the app and force uninstall. What i'm guessing is that the app gave itself permissions to be part of the rom. If nothing works, i would strongly suggest that you flash the stock rom to your phone, that will definitely remove the adware issue. Best of luck.

I think you can just do a factory reset on the phone. You may have installed an app which has that, or heck, have you tried reverting to your default app launcher? Some launchers really have built-in ads on them. At the very least you can run Clean Master and clear off any traces of cache data on your phone and clean that crud up.
