How is marshmallow working for you?

Got the ota last night. Like has previously been said, feels like what Lollipop should've been.

Haven't noticed an improvment to battery life, but i think that's probably due to the screen on/off app that uses the proximity sensor (broken power button) I have installed.

One thing I dont like, and i have no idea why they removed it, but when you put the phone in Do Not Disturb mode now, there is now no option to turn it off automatically when your next alarm goes off. Ah well

Looking forward to marshmallow on my soon to be here nexus 6p :D

It could be that app messing with the doze feature is the culprit.

That being said, if you're constantly using the phone then you really won't see much difference. I think the only way doze REALLY helps is that if you let the phone sit overnight then it will only drop a percent or two (if that) whereas before it would drop much more. I notice that my battery usage line is very straight when I don't touch it, but I apparently work in a faraday cage so my battery gets drained constantly looking for a signal during the day. Doze doesn't help with that.

I'm getting none of that. If you just did an OTA over what you have, it may not be surprising if you have the same problems. I would recommend a factory reset.
First thing I did.

It's still the same. Kitkat was fantastic, now they've just screwed Android up.

And this is a new/replacement Nexus 5, so it's not hardware.

As much as II really really really hate the thought of iOS, it's become more and more appealing for an increasing number of Android device owners.

Hook is right about latest lollipop.... After using 6 for weeks, I'm regretting not staying with 5.1. I'm too bloody lazy to go through the downgrading process (lost root, TWRP), so I'm still waiting for final release of 6 to see if that makes it any better. I like the stability, standby battery and overall speed. However the app compatibility issues, choppy audio streaming, boring OS, screen-on battery life and lack of some features 5.1 had are annoying me.

@nx1977

No problems like that here either. I flashed my 6 pre-release zip somebody over in XDA made. Boot should be about the same time as Lollipop, and you should definitely see a major boost in battery if coming from 4.4.x. You may wanna try flashing that ZIP or or try downloading/running the TGZ script from the Google downloads. I've found that allowing OTA upgrades between 4-5 caused major issues for a lot of us including what you're experiencing.

Go iOS, you'll be back :) The only upgrade an iPhone 6 has is better physical shape and screen resolution.

Battery socks as much as Lollipop.

Takes an age to boot (WTF?)

Wifi always on keeping device awake STILL happens.

Small text scheme

Clearly Google don't beta test with real customers. A Google employee is hardly going to slate it are they?

This isn't inaccurate. My wife has been on KitKat till last week, and she has noticed MUCH less battery life on Lollipop. It's frustrating that the screen-on performance on 5.x and 6.0 sucks so bad.

Battery killed in 8 hours.

Wifi top, next 3 places Google Service, Android OS and Android system.

Phone is not sleeping fully, and WiFi is on constantly even if turned off. As in Lollipop (previous Nexus 5 and this replacement) if mobile data left on Google related apps seem to be eating it up.

Just what are they loading or downloading which is causing this?

Turning data and WiFi off constantly is a PITA.

Again, I have none of that. I'm not saying that to be argumentative or to say that you are wrong-- I believe you. However, I'm curious, have you tried a factory reset and then just used the phone for a day without restoring or installing anything. The question this would help inform is whether there is one or more apps on your phone that is making use of those services in an inefficient way. I never turn WiFi off. I haven't been using my phone a lot today, but after 6 hours I'm at 94%

I also admit I don't use a lot of Google apps, but I do have email, calendar, etc programs that check live for updates all day.

You might also try a battery monitor like Gsam that will give you more information about what is eating your battery.

Not trying to talk you out of that iPhone (I like iPhones just fine, just not for me), but would be nice to solve the problem with your Nexus anyway.

Trust me I don't want an iPhone, but equally can't hold off until Android N for Google to sort all this out.

I did run completely vanilla when Google replaced my 5 because the constant charges and it was pretty much the same affair, so I reset and restored my previous device.

Don't even get me started on my Nexus 7 2012 as I might start smashing stuff up and foaming at the mouth.

Marshmallow is definitely what Lollipop should have been, but there's still too many unresolved bugs from the L preview - and the Wifi battery drain is top of that list.

You can always go into the WiFi advanced settings, one of the options is to Never turn WiFi on during sleep.

Might want to take a look at this thread. It kind of goes around and around with some people talking past each other, but there are a few good tips and about page 8 or 9 a possible solution (not in the OP) emerges involving going into safe mode. Since I'm one of the ones who don;t have the problem, not much use in my testing it. Also, you can contribute your case if you like.

I got the OTA late last night, installed it and went to bed. Didn't really fuss with the phone until some time in the middle of the day today. We use Lotus Notes at work, and the IBM Verse software that accesses the Notes server is borked. It syncs and will display a list of messages, but every time I click on a message Verse crashes and the phone wants to send a crash report. I sent one, but I think at this point my work email won't be working on my phone for a while. I am off until Monday, so I'll have to try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that helps.

I just checked the play store, and I see similar reports showing up in the recent reviews, so it's not just me.

I got the ota a couple of days ago. The nighttime sleep battery drain is fantastic. Go to bed at 99 percent, wake up in the morning at 94.

The only issue I've found is font size issues with swiftkey, and when I take the phone away from my face at the end of a call, the proximity sensor doesn't recognize it sometimes, and the screen stays dark.

My battery was awesome on 5.1.1. Two days in 6 and it has sucked big time. IBM Verse is crashing nonstop every time I try to access work email, so I just kicked off a FDR. We'll see how things go after this. I haven't had to do a FDR previously for upgrades, but the battery is so bad I decided it was time. :)

My Nexus 5 has been doing well. I had the beta installed and it worked well, for the most part, other than some apps not being compatible. When Marshmallow was officially released, I flashed the image. I did have some WiFi issues, the battery would drain in just over 24 hours with light usage, but changed the setting, WiFi is turned off when the screen is off, unless it is on a charger. Since changing the WiFi setting, I'm getting great battery life -- in fact, if I don't use that phone for a day it only seems to lose about 10 or 20% of the charge.

Apps have always potentially been a problem with upgrades -- on iOS as well as Android. Obviously, the more that is changed the more issues there are with apps. Just that with Android fewer users see it; it tends to be a "Nexus problem." Most apps should be fixed within a week or two.

The only issue I've noticed is that my phone now does not remember the connection mode is MTP when I connect it to my computer. It connects in a charge only mode, as I do not see the stored files.
I have to go into the USB Configuration and tap on MTP (which is already selected). It's like the phone does not remember to go into this mode each time I reconnect it.
