Help Dead (bricked?) - no root

Hi.
First off, I've never rooted this phone or tried to do anything on the developer side. I'm stricty an end-user, and don't have the first clue on how or what to do to modify my device. I'm usually very happy just using programs provided and downloaded from Google Play (in other words, please be gentle). I do tend to be a heavy user - jumping back and forth between programs with lots running in the background.

  • While using my phone this morning, I started to receive errors - processes were failing and dropping off "messaging service not responding, press ok" "LinkedIn app not responding, press ok". I had about 8 program failures in 1 minute. (if you wanted to know what I was doing - I was looking through messages in a prior conversation for a photo I had sent).
  • It then froze up, stuck on the message conversation list.
  • After about 3 minutes, without any response from any of the buttons, and the screen still on, I removed the battery.
  • When I restarted it, it stayed on the solid "LG" splash screen (for over 10 minutes), with no response from any of the buttons, and the screen still on, so I removed the battery (again).
  • I then did a hard reset (volume down+power). The "release all keys please!!! Go To Recovery Mode. Waiting....", script came up. After about 4 minutes, I got the "dead android" screen. Let that sit for 3 minutes, it went back to the solid "LG" logo (again). Wait 10 minutes, nothing. Took out the battery again.
  • Next step, did a factory reset (volume up + power). The confirmation script for to erase all data and restore factory settings came up. Pressed the power button twice (as requested), and the it did nothing. For another 10 minutes.
I hopefully have been descriptive enough of the problem and the solutions that I've already attempted.
Being my primary source of connection with the internet, I'm now sitting at the public library, begging for help from the only community I know that would have the answers. Can anyone help please?
I will be forever grateful.

Thank you for responding so quickly to my problem.
My issue is - I read through the "how to unbrick your phone" links that you left me, but those really don't help. As you may have read earlier in my message, those steps are WAY BEYOND my capabilities.
I don't mean to sound like I need to have someone hold my hand, but I really kind of need someone to hold my hand on this.
Arrrgh. Sorry.

From the posts I've seen, this seems to be a fairly common problem with the F3. Some people have also posted that if they are able to finish the factory reset, the phone comes back with only around 100 MB of internal memory showing. The best solution I've seen, unfortunately, is a warranty replacement.

Not sure who your provider is, but if you have the F3 through Virgin Mobile, they are really good about sending replacements for problems like this. I'm not familiar with other providers' policies, but calling and politely explaining the problem sure can't hurt.

Good luck and hope you can solve things quickly!

luckily i found a solution to your problem if you want you can follow this process first download lg mobile support tool from softpedia then from the support tool select install usb driver and select the provider for your phone and model number then it will send you to the installshield installation for the driver just wait until completed then come back to the support tool and if there is a software update select install upgrade, if its says up to date then go to options then select upgrade recovery then wait for the process to complete make sure the battery level it at least 70% if the installation of the s/w upgrade gets stuck at 4% just wait and it will be completed after the process it done your phone should be fixed, please reply if it was sucessful or not.
